WEEK 3 MINGLE

WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

I was assigned to a field mission with Minato and the Medic, and while I didn't know the details, I was aware that whatever it was involved an SCP that was dangerous and had a high casualty rate. Since we were bringing a doctor along, I assumed we would be treating people, but...

It was autopsies. On-site autopsies. The Medic was... about what you would expect him to be like. He seemed to enjoy touching... Whatever it was.

Mm... same here.

[He offers her a small, strained smile.]

Sorry you had to see something like that.

[He remembers being worried about her in the dream, and it carries over to now.]

No, I should apologize, too. I really should have handled myself better.

...Thanks, though. I would have thought I was crazy if you weren't there too.

I'm glad I could at least do that much...

[Honestly...]

Medic-san is just... used to things that we aren't. There's nothing wrong with not being prepared for a sight like that.

[Minato was pretty sure he still half-felt like he was going to lose his breakfast when he woke up so...!!]

I really hope we don't end up having to get used to that kind of thing. but...

...That might be impossible at this rate.
messianic: (did not forebear)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-12-10 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
... Maybe not. [A slow breath in.]

Don't resign yourself to it yet, okay?

...Well, it's just... When all this is over, I'm probably going to end up working for The Foundation again. From what we've seen so far, this world would be in serious danger if we don't help. But if even a tenth of them are going to be like that...

It's hard not to resign myself.
messianic: (a slate rubbed clean)

[personal profile] messianic 2018-12-10 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
... There has to be ways that you can help that don't involve...that.

[...]

I just want to hope for the best--for you and all of us here.

:/

It's not my fault they assigned literal children to work with me

I wasn't a fan of it either, neither of you seemed prepared or willing to handle it

Honestly, I'd agree there. I don't know why they would assign me to autopsies.

[...Wait. Is this because of the fact that I've died before?]

Putting that aside, though... What did your investigation actually pick up? What even was it?

I remember thinking that with some training, I could eventually get you both up to task, but I doubted it would happen because reassignments were so common

I can't remember, to be honest. I remember how the reaction spread from the hand to the rest of the body, but I can't even put a name on what the reaction was.

It's frustrating!

I suppose it can't be helped with how fragmented these things are... Still, I'd be a bit more comfortable knowing that it's been handled.

...Just to verify: It definitely wasn't infectious, right?

[I. Want to believe you're smart enough to have verified that before touching the body.]

I don't remember! Probably not, though. I get the feeling this Foundation would've exterminated us if we proved a risk for them, and me being possibly contaminated by something infectious... Well! I probably would be dead.

[ ...oh. ]

That sounds like it was... tough to deal with.

Yeah, I... didn't exactly handle it well.
