WEEK 3 MINGLE

WEEK 3

Week three opens like the other two weeks, but when you wake up, you know there's been a change in the area. At first, nothing is wrong - but when you look at any window, you aren't greeted with the cheery sight of the outside - instead, there's just a cold, harsh blackness. Trying to leave out the doors is impossible, too - if you try, you just find yourself back on the couches in the lobby. On top of that....The Staff are beginning to act even stranger, their glitching out becoming more obvious. Sometimes, they seemingly go blank mid sentence and walk away, as if they were reset, and slur or stutter their words.

The weather is...well, non-existent, except for the courtyard, which is still pleasantly snowy. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. Yet, it doesn't seem like you're any closer to solving this...

And time still ticks onwards, regardless if you're ready or not.

...I don't quite understand the point of messing with our memories here. It seems kind of... counterproductive?

...Then again, it's possible they just do that when people are going to be "sacrificed"...

[...Which means we're all here to be sacrificed to the Monsters, doesn't it...?]

I don't know. They like to erase people's memories whenever it's convenient for them, but I'm not sure what the purpose is here.

It seems pretty inconvenient in this case, though! I feel like we would've been in a much better position to deal with things here if we actually remembered working together in the past. Or even just having an idea what's going on.

I can't really see any benefit in erasing our memories and sending us into this kind of situation without any kind of preparation at all.
diesifkilled: some sort of a damn fool of an idiot to you? because thats what i was going for (what do i look like)

[personal profile] diesifkilled 2018-12-10 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It's entirely possible they don't want us to deal with things. As long as they can contain a problem, they don't care if it goes unsolved even if they have to keep killing people for it.

The question here is what their problem is - if it's the mafia monsters, we kill them and we get out.

If it's the whole-ass resorts.... I don't know.

...If it's anything like the Camp, it's possible there's still a lot we don't know about this place. We shouldn't be too hasty to jump to any conclusions about what's going on.

...I really don't understand the higher-ups of The Foundation.

[Why would you... leave a problem active when you can resolve it...? Isn't it way more costly to keep it contained than to just take care of the problem at the root?]
diesifkilled: is like throwing good money into sinkhole (to me putting your wallet in quicksand)

[personal profile] diesifkilled 2018-12-10 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry. They're just... not good people, even if the work they do is necessary.

[personal profile] duskhound 2018-12-10 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, I know it's necessary, it's just... This doesn't exactly seem sustainable? Especially if there's a way to resolve things.
diesifkilled: sorry but you need eyes as well to see ("anyone with a brain can see")

[personal profile] diesifkilled 2018-12-10 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.]

They spent decades running a summer camp meant solely for killing dozens of children at a time when they could have instead just talked to the entity they were supposedly trying to appease. They don't care about what's sustainable or makes sense.

[...Well, time to sink down onto a chair at this.]

...And these are the people in charge of keeping the world safe...?

[...How has this world not been wiped out already...?]
diesifkilled: oh i wasn't listening i was just acknowledging the fact you were telling me something, whatever it was. (you're telling me!)

[personal profile] diesifkilled 2018-12-10 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, according to SCP canon it has, multiple times.]

I know, it's messed up. But there are good people working with them too.
13thpromise: (pours itself on my fever)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-10 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
...they probably have a secret motivation that's different from what they're saying their goals are.

Well I mean, it's certainly possible, but I've been doing this kind of work back home too, and I'm pretty sure they didn't have any secret motivation, they just had a way of getting disposable subordinates to throw at the problem.
