RECORDING 9: THE THIRD TRIAL.

The worst has happened... and now you're all here, in the living room where all the trials so far have taken place. As all of you enter, the Vessel is there - Jack, looking expectant and as militaristic as ever.

On one of the tables away from the center is a small enclosed box entitled 'VOTES', with slips of paper nearby and a pen. It's sufficiently away from what will be the 'main' action, but not enough to really give anyone complete privacy as they vote.

Once everyone is inside, the doors automatically shut and lock themselves, leaving you trapped in here with the Vessel...and each other.

One of you is a murderer...however, in this game, the guilty do not need to be voted out. As long as there are enough people voted out that matches the victims...then it will be accepted.

...But, can you really let someone get away with murder...?

The choice is up to you.

But this time...potentially, someone innocent...must die as well.

VICTIMS: FLAYN AND HAKU
PEOPLE TO VOTE OUT: 2

WEEK 3 VOTING

I think we need to consider that at least some of the fighting could have been done by the two victims this week. We should make a timeline of events and sort out what they likely did, and then see what's left.

[He's nodding in agreement over here.]

Figuring out what happened when is the best way to determine if there was more then one culprit, too.

[Which he. goddamn hopes there is.]

It shouldn't be hard to piece together where Haku and Flayn were based on the evidence we have.

Their fight probably started in the library, right? That's where Flayn and Haku were fighting with fire and ice. Then, Flayn got disarmed and ran into the hall. Something else happened there. Based on the marks in the hall not matching the ones in the library, I assume somebody else joined the fight. That, or one or both of them picked up other weapons.

After that, the fight went into the trophy room.

That seems like a good starting point, yes. Haku and Flayn were fighting in the library, and then something happened. Someone interrupted.

...perhaps that is where Seteth came in? He saw the two of them fighting and tried to intervene?

Something with a demonic beast, by the sound of things. From his own testimony he didn't get to do much before he was knocked out, so I doubt he was the one to cause all that sword damage.

Well, unless he lied about it. Though it's worth pointing out that he had a spear and shield with him, not a sword. And a sword's what did the damage in the hall.

A...demonic beast? Was someone summoning things again?

No idea. Seteth mentioned it, but it looks like he hasn't explained anything else yet. All I know is, if someone saw a beast on the scene, it explains the claw marks.

We've gotten a little hasty in our search for the truth, haven't we?

[Which is to say he probably approves? Especially considering the, uh, miasma-induced catfight going on upthread.]

Just a little, yes.

The way I see it, relying too much on what Seteth-san says would be a mistake. He's a biased party in this in several ways, and maybe in ways we haven't thought of yet.

[He sounds kind of amused with it, but he sounds kind of amused in general most days, so that's nothing new.]

But eliminating culprits without considering the victims' capabilities really is a lot more rough a start than I was expecting.

[He gets a suspicious if unpersonalized glare, then a firm nod. She writes:

"I agree. It's too likely to be overlooked."]
