RECORDING 4: THE SECOND WEEK

A second week in this place begins, with less of your number among you. With first blood - and oil - spilled, it now seems as if it'll only be a matter of time before the worse eventually happens once more. Thankfully, it seems as if the Miasma is content to remain at the same levels it did before, so arguments are unlikely to break out, though tensions are surely high after everything that's already occurred.
Speaking of which, the temperature remains a consistent comfortable early to mid 70's in the house. It appears at least that you'll be here in comfort..? Though it appears that the rooms have changed, so hopefully you kept anything essential in the static area.
Yet, something feels...wrong. The house feels as if it is laughing at you, when you awake...
...What new horrors await you this week?
Laundry room!
No, what he notices is Sissel on the linen pile - and he smiles, going over to the cat and kneeling down, hand outstretched.]
Hey there, Sissel-ku -
[His hand touches the cat's side, and he pauses - eyes suddenly widening as his voice suddenly shakes.]
....Si...Sissel-kun? H-hey...wake up....
no subject
Then he hears Battler's distress and, well, if his heart was beating it would have siezed up.
What awful timing!
He stretches out towards the linens, but it's too far... right right he used that other bucket and rolled over... got it!
Under Battler's shaking hand, eventually, warmth and breath returns all at once.]
no subject
[Just as he was getting really worried, suddenly he can feel the little chest under his hand lift, and he lets out a sigh of relief.]
Ah...man, I really thought...
[He takes a moment to breathe, before speaking again.]
Don't scare me like that....geez, you sleep like the dead.
no subject
[Well, it was just a matter of time until this happened, wasn't it? If he was going to be of any use to the group, he was going to need his Powers of the Dead. And that meant Battler would, just by odds alone, would see the aftermath of it.
'Sleeping' gave him a cover, but for how long? And honestly, after what happened when he was a hostage, he feels a kind of pity for the man- eventually, he would notice that everyone was hiding things from him. It wasn't fair, even if it was necessary.
And of course, Sissel remembered the man's kindness when he was grieving. So he makes a choice.]
Hey, Battler. Press down on my chest a little.
[If he does he might feel something hard an unnatural there under the cat's ribs]
no subject
[Of course, he presses down, trusting in Sissel - and stopping the moment he feels that hard bit, eyes going wide.]
....What...Sissel-kun, what is that? It feels like...there's something lodged inside of you...?
no subject
no subject
[He repeats it, but he's...clearly confused.]
How did it get inside of you?
no subject
[That's not the full truth, but it's not a lie- better to not get into all the fate changing that lead to that impossible chain of events]
According to the Foundation, it gives off a kind of energy... radiation? It affects my body.
no subject
[Even a kitten can have a momentous life!!]
And...is that what was happening to you when I touched you? The radiation, I mean.
no subject
[The Foundation doctors mentioned it to him during his testing]
no subject
[Okay, he's starting to see where the cat is going with this...]
Are you saying that's what happens to you?
no subject
no subject
[There's a pause, before he strokes Sissel's fur and smiles.]
...Thank you. I know that's probably not the full truth...but you're doing what you can so I can understand it, right? That's really kind of you, Sissel-kun.
[The smile gets...just a touch sad.
'ah...it's hard for a lot of people, I think.
...Being around....what...ever...
...Being around me.
Still, I...have to keep trying to help them.']
no subject
I know it has to be frustrating, but no matter what happens I'll watch over you, okay?
no subject
...Okay. I...I think I'd really like that.
But...who knew a cat would be looking out for me like this...? The 'me' of a few weeks ago would've thought I was just going insane...Haha.
[...]
'Some things you'd never really understand about humans,' huh...? Well, I might be able to help with that, if you want. In return...Maybe you can tell me a little about what it's like to be a cat.
