WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[ It reminds him of Xemnas' own weapons, except The Superior didn't need a hilt. ]

Why'd you ask for one?

A tool like this one would be useful. One of these can cut through so many things.

[Maybe even through spiderwebs]

If they're gonna give stuff around then I won't miss the chance to claim a thing or two for myself.

[13thpromise]

[ ...That'll be awesome. ]

I guess it's not a bad idea. If something weird pops up maybe you can get through it in a way we can't.

[ Like if they needed to get back into the vents or something. ]

[If it doesn't work then maybe they should ask for a sword coated with water]

Exactly. Not everythin' that's dangerous-looking has a bad use.

[And also he's intrigued by the concept of a laser sword, yeah]

Yeah, it's really about how you use it.

[ ... ]

Can you turn it off when you don't want to use it too?

[ Like when Xemnas summons his away. ]

[As if that was the cue, Iwai calls for a staff person and gives them a new request, the staff takes that sword away and gives him another one that's pretty much identical in every way. When Iwai presses the hilt on that one, the blade's gone]

Now I can. Good thinking, kid.

[It was a good point, he had to admit]

Never had seen one of these before. I admit part of the reason I asked for it is because of the novelty.

[He only sells models and stuff, but someone like him must have knowledge about the real deal, of course]

[ Roxas gave him a small thumbs-up with a little smile. ]

It'd be a pain if you couldn't.

[ Can you imagine it ruining a pillow or blanket because you couldn't shut it off... ]

Novelty? Well, I've seen something like it before because someone I used to know could do something similar. Except without the handle.

...that'd burn anyone's hand off, you know.

[From the sound of that Iwai thinks there must have been some sort of trick and Roxas simply doesn't know it]

It was kind of like a magical ability, so it worked for him. But it definitely wouldn't work for anyone else trying to use his weapons.

[ It was sometimes difficult to tell who wasn't used to abnormal things here, but at least he'd always get a reminder somehow. ]

[geckodad]

[Ah. That explains it. Magical abilities, of course. Iwai carefully examines the hilt of the new laser sword]

What about you? Any magical abilities besides the goin' to other worlds part?

[13thpromise]

Not a lot. I used to be able to teleport even short distances, but it looks like I can't do that either.

[ He looks out to the great expanse, and then back over to him. ]

Does magic exist in your world?

[geckodad]

I don't think it does. It's a pretty normal world, as far as I know.

[And then it turns out Akira can do...something. Apparently. Like helping cause explosions that don't actually do much]

So I guess it doesn't have anything like dragons and stuff either. [ A little bit light-hearted there. ] Well, normal worlds are nice too. A world full of magic can have people ending up just abusing it and causing trouble anyway.

[geckodad]

[Iwai chuckles]

Dragons would be the biggest news in a long time. The most recent ones were all about the Phantom Thieves -- and they didn't have anything supernatural on their side.

[Oh, Iwai, you have no idea. Still, his point is that something as human as the Phantom Thieves is the big news in his world]

Yeah, you're right about that. We're better this way -- normal and boring.

What's a Phantom Thief?

[ Roxas peers at him curiously, never having ever heard of such a concept before. ]

...I think living a normal life in a normal world can sometimes end up being fun in it's own ways.

[ It's something he's been wishing for awhile now as well, even before all of this happened. But of course things happen. ]

[geckodad]

[Hoh, somehow Roxas hasn't realized yet about Akira and Makoto! Nice. Iwai sure won't be the one to mention Akira's the leader and Makoto one of the thieves, hah]

The Phantom Thieves were a group of kids that went around fighting people who abused their power and helped people in a tough spot. Some would say they're heroes.

[Although Iwai sounds nonchalant, there's a faint appreciation in his voice]

Many would ask for the opposite.

[ Not quite true given he looked at the profiles...but he hasn't gotten to ask about the unfamiliar term until now. Still, he'll smile slightly at the description. ]

Ask for the opposite? Because those people are afraid of them coming after them for abusing their power?

[geckodad]

Pretty much.

[Hah!]

Too bad they were considered criminals by the cops. They didn't deserve that.

[ Why are there so many authoritative figures bad? Roxas thinks it's just ridiculous...honestly this is also why he's not a fan of them either but hey. ]

...No, they didn't. I bet they considered them criminals just because they were mad they did a better job.

[ It really just sounds like to him the cops were jealous...or corrupt. That too. ]

[geckodad]

[Iwai laughs]

Sounds about rights. The cops are useless.

[...at capturing those high-profile criminals, at least. Iwai sure didn't hesitate to send Akira to seek protection from the cops when things got dangerous, so he trusts them to do that much]

Their leader got captured not long before I was brought here. That was the end of the Phantom Thieves.

[Although, judging by how Akira here comes from a later point in the timeline, Iwai thinks that means he got away with his unlawful activities. Way to go, Akira]

...oh.

[ That's sure a disappointed sound as ever. He doesn't know exactly Akira's the leader of them, but it's still disheartening to hear. ]

I hope the leader is able to get out somehow.

[ Someone needs to be there for others when they can't defend themselves and such. ]

[geckodad]

[Iwai shrugs]

Don't worry too much. He's got a lot of people watching out for 'im'. He's gonna be okay and out before you know it.

[Now Iwai kind of hopes someday Roxas finds out Akira is the leader. That's bound to be a fun moment]
