Week 2 Mingle

WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[It's pretty hard to miss the column of colored smoke, so Rean makes his way up there eventually to check things out. He stays a respectable distance away from the containers so he won't get a faceful of smoke if the wind happens to blow the wrong way, but he's definitely looking at them rather curiously before he turns to Ripley and Hunter.]

Huh... did you make these yourselves?

Yep. Sugar and potassium nitrate, add a little bit of heat, then dump it in a paper bag and light it on fire.

[Plus crayons, if you want! Which gives it that color.]

I learned how to make it during college. Me and my friends wanted to test out this thing we saw on the Internet. That's what happens when you get a bunch of drunk engineering majors together with too much time on their hands.

For some reason, I feel like lighting things on fire when you're drunk isn't the safest thing to do. [Obviously Ripley is alive and well now, but let him be the wet blanket about this.]

But still, I didn't realize you were an engineer. That's pretty cool, actually. What kind of things did you work on?

[The corners of Ripley's mouth twitch upwards.] Obviously not. That was the thrill of it.

[Even a tough survivalist like her can have some fun sometimes!]

Mostly things relating to space travel and stuff. I found a contract job at Weyland-Yutani shipping stuff from planet to planet--not the most glamorous job, but it's important to have crew that know what they're doing.
relentlesslyonwards: (that's...)

Well, as long as no one got hurt... although I don't even think Instructor Sara's done anything like that.

[Sighs!! Although, there's probably something else he should be focusing on. Namely:]

Wait. You said space travel? How does that even work?

It works because we have rockets and stuff. Don't ask me for the specifics, I'm an engineer, not a rocket scientist.

[She scratches her cheek, frowning.] Turns out a lot of people here don't have space travel, yet. Or, at least, very basic space travel.
relentlesslyonwards: (or MAYBE we could not do something dumb)

[personal profile] relentlesslyonwards 2018-12-09 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I think any level of space travel sounds plenty impressive from where I'm standing. I'm not going to claim I'm familiar with cutting-edge technological developments, but I don't think anyone's really even thought of going into space, much less building something for it.
