WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[Snake saw the flare, and followed suit, seeking the source, and he's not surprised at all at who he finds.]

Thought you might be behind this.

[His gaze trails what's left of the stream in the sky as it goes.]

Think anyone will see it?

[She doubts it, but she can't voice her doubts here.]

Let's hope someone does. [Ripley shakes her head.] If not, well...it's not like that much was wasted, anyways.

[It’s ok Ripley, that’s why Snake’s here. He lets out a grumble of concern, reaching his hand into his jacket pockets.]

You think they’ll let anyone within a mile of this place?

[He takes out a cigarette and lighter, not lighting up for now, only sparking it on contemplation.]

[xenoqueen]

[Ripley eyes the cigarette, putting her hands on her hips as she nudges one of the flares. It sends up another puff of smoke.]

Probably not, but it'll be good if anyone ever sees it. Eventually, with enough time, they'll break through.

[The question is when, and if anyone else is here to be rescued.]

[Snake nods. It's worth a shot, at least. Better than not doing anything. He turns his head to the flares she's sending out.]

You made those yourselves?

[xenoqueen]

Yep. Just some sugar and potassium nitrate.

[Ripley frowns.] Though, if I'm being honest, the Staff were a little too eager to give me the nitrate. I don't even want to know why they had it on hand.

[Mhhrhhhghhh.]

Guess they'd let us have anything that could keep us playing their game. [He pauses, and finally lights his cigarette.] Speaking of, do you know anything about smoke bombs?

[xenoqueen]

[Ripley raises an eyebrow.]

No. Why? Were you thinking of maybe making some?

[Though, thinking about it, these flares would probably make pretty effective smoke bombs....]

Thought it might be a good idea. Wouldn't hurt for people to carry some around in case they need a getaway.

[Considering their discussions about combat and self defense, methods of disengagement seemed ideal.]

The blue kid came up with the idea.

[You know the one. The one that's just blue everything. It's even her damn name.]

...Smart. Might be easier to ask the Staff for them, in that case.

[She was thinking about getting a flamethrower, herself, but in a situation like this in such closed quarters...nah.]

Blue Angel, you mean? She's an interesting character.

Yeah, Blue Angel.

[You could’ve called her a colourful character, Ripley, and you didn’t...for shame.]

She’s got a good head on her shoulders. Even thought of using glitter bombs.

Glitter bombs? [She lets out a loud laugh.] At least we'll know if someone used it. It's impossible to get glitter out of your skin.

[Said with the experience of a woman who has a toddler.]

Exactly.

[Though not laughing out loud, Snake cracks a grin.]

Thought it'd make it easier to place people at a scene. Or make for some annoying targets.

Hopefully we’ll find out in a while.

[A pause.]

Unless the Hotel California effect works in reverse here, too.

“Hotel California effect”, huh? What’s this got to do with foreign investment?

Foreign investment?

[He blinks, then shakes his head.]

I just meant... Like, how we can't leave. Hopefully it doesn't mean nobody else can get in.

[A hnnrrgghhhh in understanding. He had a different meaning in mind, carry on kid.]

Seems they're pretty serious about their 'game'. Makes sense they wouldn't want anyone interfering.

[He looks up to the sky, gaze trailing the flare's trajectory.]

Still...there's gotta be a limit. Some way to get through it.
