WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

I don't want to take revenge or hurt anyone. I just want all the hurting to stop.

And I don't think the cleaner has a choice. The Staff made it sound like they took measures to make sure they listen. Do you think it's the same for everyone who has to play?

Yeah...

I think the only way the game works is if they force everyone into it. I don't think most people would agree to do any of this very easily just because some creepy staff told them to!

Yeah, for the record? I'm not interested in revenge, either; in this sort of "game" [ spoken bitterly ] a lot of the early votes are a shot in the dark based on how people act and can be potentially prone to bias. I'm not saying it's a good thing, just that it's a thing that can happen in mafia, especially when there's so many of us. And if you're taking a shot in the dark? The odds are you're not going to hit a monster.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cleaner doesn't have a choice, but then again, do any of us have a choice, really? The thing I'm most curious about is the role's win condition, since I'm pretty certain it's a third party role... and I'm genuinely concerned that they might be able to win on either side as long as they personally survive.

[Hnnnnrrhhh.]

Mafia is usually a fun online game that I used to play in middle school. What I might know might be a little outdated though, so I need to cross reference things with Kurusu, since he might know things that I don't since he's from a later time period.

[ She shrugs her shoulders. ] I wouldn't say that I'm entirely calm, but it's a hell of a lot better than just panicking about it.

[He'll allow that first part. He's not down with the kids, or whatever time period they're from.

The second, though, gets some suspicion.]

Three people have died. A kid like you probably hasn't watched anyone die before.

I didn't see two of the bodies, though. It's. . . easier to separate myself from the murder when you don't actually see that they're dead.

[ Just takes a sip of her drink, a little casually. ] I did watch the execution, but that's because I felt obligated to.

That's enough.

[Ripley's going to step in here before things get out of hand. She makes eye contact with Snake, as if to make her point absolutely clear.]

Snake, she's just a kid. Regardless of what you may or may not suspect, I suggest you lay off of her.

[She doesn't want him to fuel further paranoia.]

[Hnnrhhh.]

She might not be anymore.

[Still, he has enough respect for Ripley to follow an order, and steps back.]

[ not saying anything but she!!! can hear this, snake!!!! ]

Yeah, I’ll admit, I had no idea what was going on or who I should have even suspected. Like, at all. And I’m not super good at judging people in the first place so I... really want to work on figuring out if there’s a way we can do anything about the game before we have to play it more.

... I know that’s a little much to hope for. But I don’t think anything’s impossible, just really, really hard.

That's why the votes were all over the place. I'm sure everyone had their own reasons for voting who they did, or like... mm, just voted randomly so that they wouldn't die for "not playing the game", I guess. There's just a lot that we just don't fucking know because there's a lot of question marks about a lot.

Maybe it might be much to hope for, but I think we kind of at least need that hope? Trying to do something about all of this is better than doing nothing at all.

Yeah, I think so, too. Honestly I was hoping we’d be able to do something about it whether we were wrong or right or that we could get out of it without actually killing anyone, but it just got way worse...

[.... :(]

But yeah. I’m gonna try and see if I can look for stuff that might help us between now and Thursday night. ‘Cause Friday we’re stuck playing the stupid murder game or we die.

Yeah, the fucking tie was...

[ She frowns. It was really bad? ]

I think it could have been a hell of a lot worse at least, but it was still pretty terrible. But yeah, I sure as hell would like it if nobody else died. I really don't want to be the one to stumble onto a dead body on Friday.

Yeah, the tie was really bad. I think the only silver lining you can get outta that is we found out Bennings is in the clear, and even then I don’t think you can call it genuine silver. More like counterfeit silver.

Yeah, the fact that he is might mean that he'll get targeted next, actually. Which... honestly, isn't good. For any of us.

Yeah, that’s true... but maybe it means people will try and protect him now? And he can protect himself, too.

People might, yeah. The monsters might realize that and target someone else, but.

[ SHRUGGO ]

Yeah, that’s true too. Honestly, I was never the strategy person, so I dunno how to figure out what’s gonna happen with him.

There's honestly a lot of options here. I think he should stay with people that he trusts. My suggestion would be for him to stay with at least two other people, and to let everyone know who he's staying with in the off chance that he does die.

Yeah, that sounds like the best idea to me. I’d volunteer publicly but I don’t know the guy that well, so I don’t know if he’d accept...?

Well, we can at least suggest the idea?

Yeah, it's worth a shot, anyway! Better than nothing, right?

It probably would be best to remind everyone on Thursday, too, just in case.

I...don't know, to be honest. If anything, I feel that the Cleaner's actions today were a way to further 'encourage' us to play the game.
