Week 4

It finally happened. Someone murdered, and was punished for it. After a particularly grueling trial, one much worse than the games ever were, everyone definitely needed the rest of the weekend to rest up. But now it is Monday once more, and that means it is time to get back to 'work'.

The cameras have moved again, and the contestants will need to be careful where they say what until their new locations have been revealed. In addition to that, the house itself seems to have changed, with its usual colorful appearance suddenly a bit more grey. Even the weather seems to be gloomy, with those storm clouds from last week starting to overcast the area, threatening to drop rain.

Seventeen contestants remain in this game of death. How many more will fall before the game is over? And how many more will be driven to murder?

It is something I have not necessarily enjoyed learning, but it is likely a worthwhile experience nonetheless.

Yes, that seems likely. I am very much still learning what it means to "live", so it is both complicated and enthralling at once.

[ He nods. ]

Ah, I actually do not enjoy coffee much. Or that was the case just a few short weeks ago. I am making every attempt to acclimate myself now, however.

I enjoy watching all of humanity, including all of you. [ Stalker box but-] If you are talking in the context of hobbies, then my answer is chess.

Chess gives off this air of, how shall I say it...intelligence? Knowledge of strategy and all of that. Has your game improved since then?

If you are capable of doing that in your sleep, I will be very impressed.

[ This is him admitting that he watches people sleep as a hobby nbd. ]

Ah yes, I understand. It has, I think. The person who taught it to me is the most intelligent human I have met so it was difficult playing against him.

You...watch people while they sleep?

I have, yes. I do not normally require sleep like humans do.

Are--Are you aware that most people tend to find that extremely unsettling?

Ah, but I have not done it to anyone here nor has it been particularly frequent. It is something I share with those who are very special to me. [ A beat. ]

...actually that is false. I have done it to Nora, only to see if he does indeed kick in his sleep.

He does, yes. He is also much louder than anyone else in their sleep. I find it somewhat fascinating.

[ He could talk about his strange hobbies all day though? But he's forgetting something isn't he— ]

[ She feels kind of weird about wasting his time, for some reason. Like it would be disrespectful if she did, despite the fact that she......does not respect him as an authority figure or anything like that, he's just a really old inhuman dude with crazy powers.

Thousands and thousands of years ago, there was a war between beings we refer to as the First Dragons. They caused great destruction in their conquest of each other, so one of them desired to find a way to end it. He made several extraordinarily powerful weapons and gave them to the humans who lived on their lands, so they could assist in defeating the warring dragons. It was a successful bid on that one dragon's part, but it had the unfortunate side effect of introducing the art of war to humans.

Or so legend has it.

[ He nods for her to go ahead. As far as divine beings go, Alcor is pretty informal, but he still gives off that aura. So it's understandable, really. ]

...I wonder if it is true. Humans have a great propensity to create, but also to destroy. For as long as I have watched them, there has been fighting of a sort.

But you mentioned a dragon: do they still exist today?

Most of it is, I'd assume. But about 'teaching the arts of war to humans', it's a bit silly, isn't it? Why would people need dragons to teach them that?

[ so yeah, she agrees on that front ]

In various forms. The First Dragons will go mad through the generations if their power is left unchecked, so most of them have either died and been lost to history, or sealed themselves up now. The Dawn Dragon and the Dusk Dragon exist in spirit, but haven't shown up in physical form since the wars. On that note...

When the wars were over, several of the First Dragons became close with the humans. The descendants of the Dawn Dragon eventually became the royal family of a country called Hoshido. And the descendants of the Dusk Dragon, the same for a country called Nohr.

My own country...my ancestor King Cadros formed a long-lasting friendship with the Silent Dragon, and he imbued him with his blood. I suspect that's the case for the other dragons "descendants" as well, but saying "my ancestor was a divine dragon" sounds much better, yes?

[ a light laugh ]

In any case, that's how myself and my siblings are able to access Dragon Veins. Spiritual ley-lines in the ground that we can tap into. The blood of a dragon is quite potent.

It does make for a fascinating detail, yes.

[ Honestly ty for clarifying because he might have asked how dragons mate with humans otherwise. ]

I imagine. Is your dragon lineage also linked to your ability of song?

That is why we were given the ability in the first place. The song was intended to be used to keep the Silent Dragon from going mad like his brethren.

It worked...for quite a long time.
