Week 4

It finally happened. Someone murdered, and was punished for it. After a particularly grueling trial, one much worse than the games ever were, everyone definitely needed the rest of the weekend to rest up. But now it is Monday once more, and that means it is time to get back to 'work'.

The cameras have moved again, and the contestants will need to be careful where they say what until their new locations have been revealed. In addition to that, the house itself seems to have changed, with its usual colorful appearance suddenly a bit more grey. Even the weather seems to be gloomy, with those storm clouds from last week starting to overcast the area, threatening to drop rain.

Seventeen contestants remain in this game of death. How many more will fall before the game is over? And how many more will be driven to murder?

That's the point. I've been getting too soft lately.

So you're just going to hurt yourself?! Pain doesn't make you better you idiot, it just desensitizes and hurts you.

[He says, someone with absolutely fucked up pain tolerance.

But now he's peeved.

Luckily, Doezai is there to solve the issue.]

That's exactly what I mean. Hurting yourself isn't an improvement on anything.

[ Looks like he'll have to explain because everyone is asking and the Foundation already knows how it works. Might as well share with the rest of the class.

His attention moves from Atsushi, over to Saki. ]

I'm always in pain and it fuels my darkness.

[ So by giving himself more pain -> more darkness -> stronger ]

[She stares at him wordlessly for a moment before she seems to find her voice again.]

idek what to warn for here, but it probably deserves a warning of some sort. Dark talk???

Actually, hurting yourself makes you weaker. Hurting yourself repeatedly builds up a tolerance for that pain, and then you have to hurt yourself more deeply to get the same reaction as before. Eventually you get to the point where no amount of pain gets you that 'strength' you need and then you're just miserable all the time and unable to do what you could before.

Besides that, it's more painful to have your hopes and dreams crushed by an outside force than to do it yourself. If you really want to use your own pain to get stronger, you should be letting someone else kill your emotion-bird.

[ He looks at Doezai for a moment or two.
