Week 4

It finally happened. Someone murdered, and was punished for it. After a particularly grueling trial, one much worse than the games ever were, everyone definitely needed the rest of the weekend to rest up. But now it is Monday once more, and that means it is time to get back to 'work'.

The cameras have moved again, and the contestants will need to be careful where they say what until their new locations have been revealed. In addition to that, the house itself seems to have changed, with its usual colorful appearance suddenly a bit more grey. Even the weather seems to be gloomy, with those storm clouds from last week starting to overcast the area, threatening to drop rain.

Seventeen contestants remain in this game of death. How many more will fall before the game is over? And how many more will be driven to murder?

My eyes were replaced with alterworld artifacts called the All-Seeing Eyes of the Gods. They have a bunch of different powers, like letting me see really tiny or even microscopic details, or things that are too fast for human eyes to track. I can link my sight to other people's so they see what I see, scramble the fields of vision of multiple targets, see auras and read true names from them. Um... I can't do it as far as I know, but previous holders of the Eyes can supposedly see the past or future.

[Yeah, okay, that gets his attention, and he looks interested.]

That sounds quite similar to something in my world - They are normally called 'Mystic Eyes', and can naturally arise in those with magic circuits. Apparently they can be artificially made as well, though eyes like those would undoubtedly get the Magus Association on you.

The Eyes are always offered to two people, who have to make a choice. One gets them, and the other... they give up their sight, because they "will not witness."

[His voice cracks slightly, and for a second his lips press together in a thin line.]

From what I know, the purpose of the Eyes is to witness major moments in history. Not sure who uses that information, but right now I have them and a lot of people in my world wanted to yank them out of my head. I didn't ask for them, but I might as well use them to help anybody I can.

...A sacrifice, then. Makes sense - Magic always seems to work in such manners, after all.

[He sounds like it's personally distasteful to him, though - and in truth, it IS.

Yet, he hears that crack - and frowns.]

Yes, you've said that before - that having those eyes were not something you sought out yourself. Despite that, it is admirable that you wish to continue using them, instead of letting them go to waste.

I'm not even sure they're magic. It's like... alterworld science. Stuff that's so advanced it looks like magic to normal humans, you know? Kinda reminds me of this one anime I watched where they talked about alchemy and equivalent exchange and all that.

[Yes he spent some time being a normal nerd when he wasn't busy with Foundation stuff.]

And I might as well use them, it's not like things will go back to normal if I refuse.
