Week 3 Mingle

The last week has brought the first spilled blood. Three of the contestants are gone, with the promise of more to fall soon. The atmosphere around the house will start to get heavy around Wednesday, which is when the first game of the week is. It's almost like the house knows something is up...

The conspiracy is beginning to unravel. Dazai isn't Dazai, and the cracks are forming in his act. But that act must be held up, or the Foundation will be brought in to take control of the game. Now everyone must play the part and act like everything is normal, at least on camera. That stress of always performing is bound to make someone crack eventually.

Once again, the cameras and microphones change. The contestants will have to search out new spots for their secret conversations. Even one wrong step, one wrong word, and it's all over for this group. Everyone is watching, and they need to play their roles.

They better keep an eye out too, because storm clouds are starting to loom over the area, both figuratively and literally.

[ That's. . . a pretty long time, if you ask her, and she doesn't know if she can last three more weeks with all of this crap going on. ]

Do we know anything about the person in charge besides the fact that they're an A-Class?

Unfortunately, we haven't had much time to get information here... All he could tell me was that as far as he's aware, they were from this world, and that they've been part of the Foundation since they were a child.

Speaking as someone who's been in a similar position... They've probably been raised while getting indoctrinated into the Foundation's philosophies, both good and bad.

. . . [ she sighs but then continues ] So basically if we keep that in mind there's a few things about their character that might be possible.

The first is that they probably uphold the idea of 'secure, contain and protect' the most out of everything. We might be able to use that.

The second is that because they're potentially born in this world, and from my understanding, outside of the SCP bullshit, the world is 'normal', they probably don't have powers unless they were like our Host and gained them from somewhere [ and tbh Inaba is very suspect about the way he worded how he got his abilities in the first place ] which leads me to the next point.

If they're the ones who want us dead, the reality of the matter is this: they don't see us as people, just SCPs. And because we're SCPs, we're dangerous. Not to mention that SCPs? Have a lot of unknown qualities to them - things people can't normally predict or entirely understand. And humans. . . [ her gaze drops a little ] . . . are afraid of the unknown, of what they don't understand.

It's very likely that they'll act tough out of that fear.

...Goro and I ran a Palace earlier this week. Our Host identified it for us.

The keywords to get in were 'Secure, Contain, Protect'. So it might have belonged to our A-class.

[Glancing over his way, concerned.]

I did tell... [A pause. Breathe, Saki.] I told Goro a few things before you went in. I don't suppose any of it was useful?

We-I think what was happening in the Palace might have been a distorted memory of how our Host ended up with the Foundation.

And... Goro was the one who found the right words to say, to get us through it without a fight. So it might have been...

[Oh. Her head dips down, and she has to take a moment to gather her voice again, blinking furiously to prevent tears.]

...He told me how he joined the Foundation. He was tricked into something that gave him power that could destroy the world, but the agent who stopped him showed him mercy.

Can you tell us what happened in there? It might be important in figuring some things out.

It was kind of strange, really. Usually the Palace Ruler is pretty openly in control of the environment but this was more like...a reenactment or something?

You mean like a memory?

[ she's also tucking this information in the back of her mind ]

[His eyes widen for a second before he bites his tongue. Chances of it being the Ann he knew back in his world aren't very good.]

Palaces are like...other dimensional pockets of space created by strong warped perceptions. Each one is different but they come from someone seeing the world in a twisted way.

[Karen looks away when she says the full name.]

So, for instance, if someone saw everything, including people, in terms of "valuable items" and "worthless items?"

Blah blah blah all I'm hearin' is that after we spend all our goddamn time on screen waitin' for a bunch of nobodies in the Foundation to decide whether they wanna kill us THEN we gotta beg some asshole at the top of the fuckin' food chain not to kill us.

[He looks like he'd like to say more but after a moment he just growls and glares down at his weapon.]

Oh, if you have any better ideas, then maybe you should share them.

There's like a zillion other ways!! We stick the A-class in the basement an' let the hands deal with 'em and then have somebody dress up as them, that's what we're ALREADY doing. We brainwash the asshole so they don't do stupid shit. We threaten whoever THEY'VE got in photos and see if they like it.

Why the hell is your first fuckin' solution just licking their shoes, is it because it supposedly worked with Dazai or WHOEVER he is.

. . . so basically you want to make us look bad and give them a reason to be afraid of us and murder us all anyway, got it.

[ dripping sarcasm ]

And it's not licking their shoes. We're not begging them to not kill us, we're convincing them. There's a difference here.

Well, this is certainly the level of suggestion we've all come to expect from you.

[It's oddly comforting in a way.]

And then they'll line up every 6350 they have and shoot them in the head.

... if they don't listen to us... maybe this guy will listen to other people from this world. If they put the pressure on, we won't have to convince him all alone.

That might work. We just need to continue to keep on getting them on our side, to actually see us as living, breathing creatures that have emotions, just like they all do.
