EXECUTION

Just like before, you all get up in the morning...but you know that after today, there will be less of you.

The Lady appears again, leading you all up the stairs to the third floor, past whatever glimpses of the upper floors you might get. This time, it's to a chapel - where a screen near the altar is already playing a video, the sound of the most beautiful instrument in the world washing over you all as you take a seat in the pews.

The Lady puts down some tarp near the altar, as if expecting this to get messy. When she's finished, she sets her gaze on all of you, her beautiful somehow awful during this moment before someone dies.

"Good morning. Shall we begin this execution?"

Defended myself from someone who decided I was a good target at which to let out some steam.

[Hnrnrrhhhhghhh. Great. Now they have (presumably) kids picking fights instead of dealing with their problems.]

And you held your own?

[That's good, at least. Still, needing bandages and being cut up...that's not a regular brawl.]

[some kids pick fights in order to deal with their problems!!]

Of course I held my own.

[he's a fighter in his own right, not that Snake has been privy to that. but there's something about the concern that does get Akira's mouth to twitch into a grateful smile, small as it is]

I'll tell you who it was later. Just don't be angry at them.

[He shouldn't be impressed, he's seen enough scrappy youngsters in his time - hell, he was one. Still, there's a reassurance that Akira wasn't all talk, and that he isn't completely defenseless.]

I'll find you afterwards. I'm not promising anything, though.

The less I have to play babysitter, the better.

[huffs a laugh]

Hm? And who said you had to play babysitter in the first place?

[tacticalespionageaction]

[Snake frowns; he's not really in the mood for laughter. Or anyone else's, for that matter.]

I want to get out of here with as few casualties as possible. Didn't think this'd be part of the job.

That's one way in which we're similar, then.

I would've liked to get out of here with everyone alive.

You can't save everyone.

I know.

[said evenly, without any sign of upset]

But I have to at least try.

[tacticalespionageaction]

[He grunts, unable to argue with that. He can only be so much of a hypocrite.]

As I said, don't be a hero.

[purrtagonist]

I'm not trying to be a hero.

[he isn't. honestly]

. . . but I will do what I believe is right.

[Something about that sounds familiar.]

No point fighting for anything else.
