WEEK 3 - NIGHTSHADE

Finally, the whole truth of this affair had come out.

The Witch they had known as Yuuko was actually Nirrti, the Witch of Misfortune.
And Watanuki was actually the real Witch of Dimensions, as the two of them fought over the power that title brought, as well as the name and identity of a long dead woman...🗈

Though things had finally changed, perhaps it wouldn't be for the better. Nirrti herself seemed much different than how she was before, and Watanuki was the one who had brought all of them here...with that in mind, it was hard to tell how their future would shake out...

However, it wasn't all bad. A few more places were open to them, the second floor becoming a much more inviting place to be, and there was still everything they had gotten used to before. And now, they all knew that Nirrti's promises were nothing but empty air...

...or, perhaps, now they would merely change.

I suppose being "Furniture" is my community service. He's a relatively kind master, especially by comparison, but... [he waves a hand] If he orders me to do something, I have to do it. So far my only orders are ticking off Nirrti. [he grins] Which I do gladly.

I'm sure Kimihiro wouldn't make any orders that are too harsh. Although ticking Nirrti off as an order...

She can hurt me, but because I -- ugh -- technically belong to Watanuki, she can't kill me. And he turned my powers back on. [he creates a small yellow-green ball of chaos energy in his hand that crackles like lightning] She can punt me around to her heart's desire, and I'll laugh in her face.

I... see. At least that's good? [ Maybe? ]

I don't mind being a punching bag if it means I can get under her skin.

Well, she is rude. [ Syaoran, that's an understatement but he hasn't learned the curse words to call her. ]

"Rude" is the understatement of the century. She's monstrous. I fear we've only scraped the surface of her cruelty.

Yeah. I'm sure we'll probably see more of it during the trial for sure... if not in later weeks.

I suspect it will get worse as she gets more desperate.

She really wants that title and power, doesn't she... well, I'm definitely not going to allow her to take it. Even if there's more to her that we just haven't seen just yet, I can't just simply let her have it.

I'm not entirely convinced she wants it... I am beginning to think she just doesn't want anyone else to have it. Like a child that throws a cake they can't have on the floor so no one can have any.

It's definitely immature. Like saying "if I can't have it, nobody can". It's petty.

And none are more cruel than children. But that just means rankling her should be easy.

Yeah. We'll definitely have to defeat her at all costs.

Thanks. I'm not going to give up so easily, even if things get even more difficult from here on out.

[he nods. Then, he lowers his head a bit]

I'm... wanted to apologize, about what I did to Watanuki. I took what I thought was the best course of action with what little information we had, and I don't regret that. But I let my temper get the better of me. For that, I am sorry.

It's okay. It hurt... because I thought that Kimihiro was gone for good, but you did what you believed was was right. I can't condone anyone for that. I lost my temper as well during the trial as well, after all.

[Shadow smiles a bit to himself]

I was blessed with many gifts by my creator, Dr. Gerald, but a long fuse was not among them. [he suspects his propensity for violence comes either from the Chaos energy that powers him, or the alien blood that runs in his veins... or maybe all hedgehogs, regardless if they are grown in a test tube or not, are just quick to act and not to think] ... I still do not trust him completely, and I don't approve of him kidnapping us for something like this, but I am starting to see that not all witches are the same. And he's right... if his power were to fall into Nirrti's hands, there would be no end to her cruelty, and no way to stop her. I've certainly worked under more irritating bosses, that's for sure.

That's fair. To be honest... I'd bet if there was a better way to do this, I'm certain that he would have chosen that option. But yeah. Not all witches are the same. Even Yuuko-san- the real one... She was kind. She always helped us.

Mmm. [Shadow still thinks grabbing people at random without asking permission is heckin lame but... he also understands when people do things that they have to]

I admit, I don't know any personally. So all that was my first experience.

I'm sorry this had to be your first experience... There are definitely better witches out there. Or, well, better sorcerers in general.

So, having incredible magic power doesn't always turn you into a raging bitch.

Maybe I should introduce you to Sakura at some point. She's really nice.

[ And is also extremely powerful as well. ]
