ROUND 3 INTRO LOG
Welcome to The Island. The Witch extends her greetings to you on this fine day, and is pleased to finally begin the game. Please, take a seat.
Though this game may be more difficult than originally expected, there are high hopes placed upon you. Fight well against what awaits you in order to reach a truly sparkling end.
The difficulty level is challenging, but also depends on you. Think deeply on your moves as you play.
You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.
It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite it having been firmly springish at the Foundation.
...Speaking of, what happened? The last thing you remember is being...wherever you were, and then seeing a yellow bird come towards you. Perhaps it was in the corner of your eye, or landed on your shoulder...regardless, all of you saw the bird before you were whisked away to this strange island.
Is it a new SCP? Something like this isn't outside the realm of their abilities, after all.
And there's something else. Your abilities are blocked, beyond those natural to your body. Try as you might, you just can't use any of your more supernatural or superhuman skills - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.
There is also a...letter? on your person, as if it was there all along - in your pocket or in your hand. It is...a remarkably plain envelope, and even the letter itself is plain parchment.
It reads:
'To the players in this game,
First and foremost, let me begin with an apology: for many of you, this is not a good time to bring you here, and forcing you to play in this game instead of asking nicely is quite rude of me. For that, you have my apologies.
However, as you will soon find out, this game is quite necessary. I hand-picked all of you because I felt you were the best for this task, strange circumstances notwithstanding, and I am sure you will excel beyond even my expectations. Please give me some consideration and play this game to your best efforts. Success will be greatly rewarded.
I will be watching, and I will intervene if needed. But I think all of you are up to this task. I am in your debt for this.
- The Witch of ██████████'
...hm.
If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.
As they leave, you can't help but wonder...
Where are you now?

So in spite of feeling lost - and decisively still in the orange Foundation jumpsuit - Syaoran opts to start walking. If he passes by anyone along the trek, he'll ask with gentle curiosity and a calm demeanor: ]
You wouldn't happen to know where we are exactly, would you?
[ And it's not hard to tell that his abilities seem to be blocked off, given that he can't even sense things anymore. ]
no subject
[she shakes her head, and rubs her arms lightly, a worried look on her face. But she catches herself, and tries to look reassuring a moment later.]
I'm sure we'll get a clue or something soon, though. Maybe we'll find it ourself through some old fashioned detective work.

[ He frowns, a common expression between probably a lot of them. Though, he doesn't look as alarmed as he feels, his own demeanor calm, like Li's.
Panicking would solve them nothing, after all. ]

Sudden apparent transport means either teleportation, hallucination, or illusion. Crouching down, he feels the ground beneath his feet. It seems real and solid enough, though that doesn't entirely discount illusions or other mental trickery. He starts running through his mental catalogue of fitting SCPs, though he of course remains open to the distinct possibility of new candidates. All of this, however, means he's not focused on speaking to anyone around him unless approached. People could be instances, after all. They often are.]

He loosens his tie and collar as his eyes darted around, assessing his surroundings despite the 'light' feeling in his head that told him that his little reference library was no longer within grasp. Though it just means he has to figure things out the old-fashioned way]
Is everyone all right?
[The man calls out, resting his cane on his arm, his eyes soon focusing on path, and then the mansion up in the distance]

[Ann's making her way around to people. She doesn't have Hecate to actually heal, but if anyone's injured, there might be people with more medical experience than her.
She's putting on her best, most friendly face, and hoping that helps keep everyone else calmer]

Well, time to figure out what lovely location the SCP has sent him to this time. He steps away from the crowd on the docks with a tut, followed by offhanded remark aimed at no one. ]
How lucky, another stifling summer.
[ After taking a walk around the outside, Natsuno is hanging out by the entrance to the mansion. The goatmen are graciously waving him in like everyone else, but Natsuno's just standing there, eyes locked with the strange servicemen. Maybe there's something to be gleaned from this staring contest, or maybe this is awkward as it looks. ]

Karen reacts quickly enough to see the boat leaving, and is quick to try to flag it down, pulling off her school uniform jacket and waving it like a flag as she shouts.] HEY! HELLO?
[It is, of course, useless.
Well, time to investigate, then. Following the path seems obvious, and before long she's in the mansion, approaching anyone she can find who isn't a goat.]
So, what's going on this time?

I don't suppose you remember how we got here...?
no subject
Anyway, it's nice to see him here; the list of people she likes at the Foundation isn't terribly long. She smiles and gives a little wave before shaking her head. ]

He freezes up in a way that causes him to tense up, dark eyes growing wide as he's unable to say anything, even as his lips move to form words. But eventually he does speak up, a rather obvious cracking to his voice. ]

[ Later on, he's looking at the name on the door that the goats lead him to. ]
So, this is my room?
[ Leaving the door opened as he investigates. ]
Hey, they have my clothes here.
[ And clothes...that aren't his. ]

...And the connection's down, as always. So, either a bunch of birds are about to try to kill us, or this isn't a Foundation facility anymore. I'm betting on the latter this time, since there definitely wasn't a letter inside my internal storage before.

[he presses a button on the inside of one of his inhibitor rings, bringing up a holographic screen. Usually, it would allow him to turn his powers on, but… right now it displays nothing but static. He can feel it, too. Something — or someone — blocking the flow of chaos energy through his veins. He dismisses the screen and curses under his breath. He puts his phone in the pocket of the loose orange Foundation-issue pants and finds something else there]
A letter?
[his brow furrows as he reads it, his muzzle contorting into a snarl. In a rage, he balls the letter up and moves to throw it into the ocean in a fit of pique.
But then he thinks better of it. It was the only clue he had, after all]
Tch…. Witches…. games?! You bet you’re in my debt for this garbage. And I plan to collect. [is he… talking to you?? No. He’s talking to himself. But if you’re on the dock with him, feel free to respond!]
[and he bitches all the way up to the house.
There, he glares up at one of the goat men, jabbing a clawed finger into its stomach]
Explain. Immediately.
goat bulli goat bulli
But more importantly -- more importantly! He jabs an inquiring finger at Shadow in a silly imitation of the way he's threatening the goat. So now they're like this except for the height differences. Nice.]
Oh, I know this one! [???] I don't think he's really a goat, but I don't think he's food either. [????????] Does that help?
[Anon he wasn't asking you to explain.]

An island. Better stay away from the beach, just in case.
Makoto moves with surprising ease through the garden, considering her state. Although she's moving slower than a person walks, she's less helpless than you'd think a blind person would be. Not that you can see she's blind, she seems to have misplaced her cane. Since anyone nearby likely is't trying to sneak onto her, she senses the steps, so she turns and asks:]
Excuse me, are you one of the agents?
[She's not sure she can trust a yes or no, but at least she's asking. That's bound to be good for something.
Later, a goat guides her to her room. She then goes with one of them to the foyer, with a hand over one of the goatman's arms. This arm feels so...strong, beefy. Unnaturally so. Something's off. She asked the goat to read her the letter, and he's doing so.
When someone else passes nearby, she smiles, a bit nervous, and comments:]
They have such deep voices, don't they?
[She comments as if that's the most striking feature the goats have]
foyer
[Clearly their more obvious features are too obvious to be worth discussing and this lady just wants to avoid stating the obvious. Clearly.]

[She recovers from her surprise quickly, though. She traded her orange jumpsuit for a 21st century facsimile of her everyday clothes a while ago, which means she can reach into a pocket and produce what she really needs in this situation, like a weapon, or a tool, or a...pigeon?]
Oh, good, you're still with me, buddy. I think we just teleported again. Knowing the Foundation, that means the wrong guy sneezes, but still...
[Joey's pigeon buddy has nothing to contribute, he's just mildly annoyed at being woken up.]
I don't suppose you saw that other bird, did you Byers? ...I'm talking to the pigeon again. This place is already sending me loopy...
[Reaching into her other pocket out of curiosity, though, she finds something she didn't put there. The letter, which she duly reads.]
...a game? This has gotta be a Foundation thing, then.

[Despite his words, which probably sound a little petulant to all passersby currently attempting to figure out where the hell they are and how they got hella kidnapped by a witch (did he even read the letter), this particular arrival walks with a little bounce in his step to match his bouncy bright pink hair.
He's also dripping wet in his orange jumpsuit, apparently having gone swimming in all his clothes, and leaving a trail of water up from the direction of the beach, so someone's been exploring, obviously. There's definitely sand all over, so we've solved one mystery already! Give everyone a hand.
Or a fish, as it happens. He's got about three decent-sized ones stuck on a stick, looking nice and fresh but luckily no longer flopping. There's also a sea star stuck in his hair. He doesn't seem to have noticed.]
I thought they were really interested in what I could do, but I'm not sure this is the way to do it. It took me forever to catch these, you know.
[Annnnd he thrusts the fish proudly in the face of the nearest hapless pedestrian. Sorry. Surely he read the letter before he went swimming???]
no subject
Oh. He'll look at the fish and then look up at him. ]
Oh hey, it's you. Are you planning on eating a bunch of fish this time?
[ Can he become a mermaid if she does that? ]

THE APPEARANCE OF THE WITCH
And then, without a sound, the tiniest of black flames begin to form in the air. Even looking at it, you can instinctively tell that to be touched by that fire would be a terrible fate - and, indeed, it races throughout the hall, bringing change in it's wake.
The tables become laden with food when the flames recede, all kinds of elegant banners and decorations on the tables, walls, and eves. It's all grand food, a feast fit for kings and queens - and it all smells so very, very tempting - though it might be best to wait for the host to show themselves before digging in.
They don't have to wait long, however - after the flames set the area just so, they all rush to the center of the hall, congregating together in a pillar of jet black flame...and begin to fade, leaving a beautiful woman in a black dress that seems to dance like flames, her eyes gazing over all of them impassively.
She truly does look like some magical witch, beautiful and mysterious at the same time, her long hair spilling around her and practically blending in with her dress.
And then, she smiles.]
...Welcome, dear guests. I am Yuuko, Witch of Dimensions - and the one you will be facing in this game.
[Her voice is quiet, yet....it rings throughout the halls with little effort.]
I ask that you stay polite during it, and don't destroy my island or the mansion. That would be...quite unpleasant for you. There is also no escape from here, so making a boat would be...just as unpleasant.
[With that hint of a threat hanging in the air, she continues - lifting her arms.]
You've been brought here as my competitor's pieces, in this game we're playing against each other. This game is....well.
[The moment she says that, a thrill of magic power seems to run through all of you - and the words themselves hang in the air before her, glowing a bright red.]
Though it would be incorrect to say that none of you will have a part in this, for it is through your wishes that I will be killing them.
...I can grant your wishes - any wish - but it comes at a price. This price...is the life of one of your own. If you want it granted, you must be willing to come to me and bear the weight of a life in your hands.
...However, that isn't fair to those who aren't willing to kill. So I will make another offer, as part of this game.
Of course, I will show you how I killed the victim. But if you are truly against me, then you must fight to display the power of Humans - and decide which among you have been stained with sin.
There will be a better explanation of how you will do this once the time comes - but keep this question in your mind for the rest of this week:
...And if you manage to survive to the end, I will grant you any wish you desire. Likewise, if you manage to successfully kill someone through me, I will grant you your wish when the game is over.
...Enjoy the food I have prepared for you, and you may ask me any questions you like. I have nothing to hide, and I wouldn't bother poisoning you when the game hasn't yet started.
[With that, she walks - with an elegant, almost regal gait - to a chair that practically looks like a throne, which a goat butler respectfully pulls out for her to sit down in, and then bows to her.
...Is this...the same witch who wrote the letter you all had on arrival...?]
no subject
If you have nothing to hide, then tell me. Why exactly are you wearing her face?
[ Because he already has doubts about this. ]
