Welcome to The Island. The Witch extends her greetings to you on this fine day, and is pleased to finally begin the game. Please, take a seat.

Though this game may be more difficult than originally expected, there are high hopes placed upon you. Fight well against what awaits you in order to reach a truly sparkling end.

The difficulty level is challenging, but also depends on you. Think deeply on your moves as you play.

You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.

It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite it having been firmly springish at the Foundation.

...Speaking of, what happened? The last thing you remember is being...wherever you were, and then seeing a yellow bird come towards you. Perhaps it was in the corner of your eye, or landed on your shoulder...regardless, all of you saw the bird before you were whisked away to this strange island.

Is it a new SCP? Something like this isn't outside the realm of their abilities, after all.

And there's something else. Your abilities are blocked, beyond those natural to your body. Try as you might, you just can't use any of your more supernatural or superhuman skills - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.

There is also a...letter? on your person, as if it was there all along - in your pocket or in your hand. It is...a remarkably plain envelope, and even the letter itself is plain parchment.

It reads:

'To the players in this game,

First and foremost, let me begin with an apology: for many of you, this is not a good time to bring you here, and forcing you to play in this game instead of asking nicely is quite rude of me. For that, you have my apologies.

However, as you will soon find out, this game is quite necessary. I hand-picked all of you because I felt you were the best for this task, strange circumstances notwithstanding, and I am sure you will excel beyond even my expectations. Please give me some consideration and play this game to your best efforts. Success will be greatly rewarded.

I will be watching, and I will intervene if needed. But I think all of you are up to this task. I am in your debt for this.

If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.

As they leave, you can't help but wonder...

...have you been here longer than the rest of us or did you just, like, immediately go hunting fish?

Well, I wanted to see how far I could swim, or if I could swim to the boat, or if I could find that interesting little bird flying somewhere, so...

[Yeah?? He basically fucked off instantly to go wildlife chasing and also he's a gremlin with absurd physical stats even while nerfed. So he probably did a mini-triathlon during some of the meet'n greet.]

I went for a little stroll.

[On the water???]

And came back with fish?

I got a little hungry...?

[I mean, that was a lot of physical exercise for a guy who's just been nerfed. He beams and nods at the fish again.]

I haven't had seafood in... [vague wave, which probably splashes some seawater on poor Joey, RIP] So it didn't seem like such a bad idea, until I had to cook them. Hey, do you think these would be okay to eat raw? I have a strong stomach, and there's something called sushi where people I know come from!

I'm pretty sure you have to spend a lot of time preparing sushi properly?

[This person definitely looks like they're about to take a chunk out of a whole fish and Joey doesn't want to be here for that.]

I'm not a doctor but I don't recommend it?

[He looks a little downcast.]

How long...? The pictures make it look like you just cut up the fish into pretty little blocks. I don't have a knife yet, but I'm sure I could find something...

[And now you're imagining this maniac with a knife and possibly actually, yes, taking a chunk directly out of the fish with his teeth in the meantime. This definitely feels like the cursed timeline they're in.]

Is there something else a doctor could do to sushi?

I don't know, I don't cook. Or. You don't cook sushi...I don't make sushi, is the point. I just know you shouldn't eat a whole fish unless you're an Actual Bear or something.

[Why is this a conversation she is having?]

Ah.

[He suddenly brightens. This is probably a bad thing--]

So if I could find a bear, then I'd be able to understand the secrets of not-really-cooking sushi. There's a forest on this island, isn't there? That actually seems like a pretty easy task!

[This sure is a conversation she is having. He seems to be lost in sushi speculation for a moment before he dramatically(?) points at her with his fishstick.]

Do you want to come? I don't mind sharing, since you shared knowledge!

I'm uh. I'm good, thanks. It's probably not a good idea to go bother a bear, though...

Is it still bothering a bear if I give him fish...?

[He seems to be thinking about this very seriously.]

He might just eat you and the fish, especially if you also smell like fish from carrying it around.

[That sends him off into a peal of laughter, though he recovers enough to just give the most shit-eating grin ever.]

I'd like to see the bear that could do that!

[Why does he sound like he's genuinely excited about it.]

Besides, besides -- most of this island looks like it might be forest, so we can't avoid bears forever! It would be way more interesting to have an alliance with them, or meet them on their own turf.

[It's debatable whether he should be saying this in the land of nerfs, but has that ever stopped him. We don't really know what he's talking about either, but that also has never stopped him.]

I've completely lost track of what's going on here, but please don't fight a bear.

So I'm just going to do what I want until something more interesting happens.

[Apparently being kidnapped and thrown onto a deserted island and vagued at by a Witch (did he read the letter, the mystery continues) doesn't count as interesting.]

I'm always just as nice to everyone as they are to me. Even the bears.

[That was unintentionally ominous??

But on the bright side, he probably won't find bears on the island....... surely...?]

So if you're not going to eat anything, and you're not going to chase the bears, what are you going to do, anyway?

I thought I'd try to figure out what's going on and why we're here...

I'm pretty sure we're going to find out sooner or later no matter what.

[He makes a little gesture with his fishstick that's a bit like a conductor conducting. Maybe it's just a flourish.]

Who would kidnap this many people, and have a whole island with stuff on it, just to leave us here wandering around? That'd be a bit boring.
