It was noon on Friday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...🗈

This new world looked like...the inside of an ornate courtroom, like something that wouldn't be too far from some kind of grand fantasy novel.

The Witch, Lambdadelta was there, sitting in the most important place, smiling brightly at everyone. There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

As they looked around, they might have also been surprised to see that their forms had changed - perhaps only slightly, or a much more dramatic change. It seemed like this place demanded a different form in some way, even if it was just a change of clothing.

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Yesterday had been the start of the game. But now, armed with all they knew...now, they had to truly go up against the Witch, and somehow.....win.

Well, I can say for sure I can't shoot. I told Jack that way back on Monday. I know guns from movies and shit, so I know the basics of how they work, but no way I could manage a headshot like that unless it was an accident. I didn't have the stake until after the fact but... well, no one was with me when I picked her up, so can't really use that as an alibi.

Yeah, he did. We saw those... shot guns in the room with the creepy books and the stakes.

It's possible he was shot after he had fallen. It'd be a lot easier to shoot someone whose movement has been slowed down.

Was there anything that showed what range he was shot at?

Not that I saw. He stumbled back into the door, at least I assume that's what the trail of blood means. But there'd be nothing stopping the Culprit from following over to shoot him. I didn't see any footprints in the blood though, so probably they didn't walk up to him. Or were really careful?

I suppose our rooms are small enough that getting a hit wouldn't be too difficult. How on target was it?

Pretty much right near the center. If I had to guess I'd say:

Pow-pow-pow. In movies, guns jerk up when they're shot, so maybe it was like that.

TAKASHI! T-that's not still loaded, is it?!

[He smirks, the look even worse than usual thanks to his transformation.]

My stake turned into a girl- how would I defend myself if you all decide I did this after all if I unloaded it?

[... Takashi are you legit planning to fight your way out if you lose?]

You could accidentally shoot someone! Or yourself! A-and besides... it doesn't matter who did it, it's not like we're going to go after you if you're responsible. It's all of us against Miss Lambda, right? That includes the culprit. So maybe... put the gun... somewhere else...???

[enter_the_darkness]

[ Loud snort. ]

You just said you can't shoot. What would be the point of having a weapon you can't even wield to defend yourself?

Just gonna point it and hope for the best?

[artificialhighness]

[She looks faintly amused. But this is the woman currently packing a whole-ass sword on her belt.]

You don't have enough bullets for all of us, anyway, do you?

[She's not afraid really. Because she's already expecting to die to her little sis in a week.

But her eyes widen for a few seconds then she scowls and it's the angriest she's looked since she got here.]

You should not do that with a gun. Even if it is unloaded or a gun that needs a spell to function. You should not do that.

Fine, fine.

[More due to Silver's fear than anything, he puts the gun aside]

You mean like scorch marks?

It depends on the gun, but a non-magical gun would leave them from what was used to fire it. I think the wound would be different as well.

We could inspect the gun to see its nature. From my brief glimpses of it, it seemed ordinary enough... but it's better to be certain than assume it isn't magical.

[Then Lambda's red happened.]

That's a good idea, but I don't think it's something we can do.

[ She considers what happened to Jack and what people are trying. Hmm... ]

We need only be inventive. Rather than inspecting the gun itself, we could posit a theory to Lady Lambdadelta. "The gun in question is non-magical and fires normal bullets, leaving behind gunpowder and residue." That could suffice.

I think that'd work. Though maybe I am better of not using the blue words for something like this.

[Takashi just raised a good point.]

It's interesting that Jack is a part of your alibi.

[She's just saiyan. The two people with possible murder weapons collabing is an intriguing look.]

It was in a confined space, wasn't it? Anyone can make a shot from the right range. And if the stake was also involved, then it's possible you cut off Riku's mobility before finishing him. How does that sound?

Heheheh- good job Miss Sun and Moon! But here's a question for you: why would I dig out the evidence that would point only to me? No one knew I had the gun until I found the bullets in Riku. I could have easily hidden it and no one would ever know!

That's true. You did provide evidence you had, and provide the base of a theory. Very smoothly. It would be a daring gamble.

[There's absolutely a grain of suspicion there -- not in the abundance of evidence, but in the concentration of it. She stops to think for a moment.]

There is something else, of course. How would someone get a gun under your pillow without your noticing?

Claiming I'm pulling a mind game? Heh, I mean I can't say I wouldn't do that.

As for the gun, well obviously someone put it there before I went to bed.

[They are very fluffy pillows, I imagine, but still.
