It was noon on Friday.

No matter where they were, no matter what they were doing...the moment the chimes rang out through the hall, they felt a change.

The world...began to expand, as they felt themselves leaving the world they were on, and towards another, much larger world...🗈

This new world looked like...the inside of an ornate courtroom, like something that wouldn't be too far from some kind of grand fantasy novel.

The Witch, Lambdadelta was there, sitting in the most important place, smiling brightly at everyone. There was no music to be heard, but... perhaps on another plane, in another place, someone else heard music as they gazed upon the proceedings.

As they looked around, they might have also been surprised to see that their forms had changed - perhaps only slightly, or a much more dramatic change. It seemed like this place demanded a different form in some way, even if it was just a change of clothing.

...There was a deep silence in the room, one that no one wanted to break. It was the faint tension in the air, like the moments before a race or a competition begins.

Yesterday had been the start of the game. But now, armed with all they knew...now, they had to truly go up against the Witch, and somehow.....win.

Heheheh- good job Miss Sun and Moon! But here's a question for you: why would I dig out the evidence that would point only to me? No one knew I had the gun until I found the bullets in Riku. I could have easily hidden it and no one would ever know!

That's true. You did provide evidence you had, and provide the base of a theory. Very smoothly. It would be a daring gamble.

[There's absolutely a grain of suspicion there -- not in the abundance of evidence, but in the concentration of it. She stops to think for a moment.]

There is something else, of course. How would someone get a gun under your pillow without your noticing?

As for the gun, well obviously someone put it there before I went to bed.

... I suppose it wouldn't have mattered. I believe our sleep on Thursday night was unnatural, as I have no need to sleep, but I was asleep at that time.

That explains that weird feeling we got when we woke up that morning.

The strange feeling, and the pall of death. It was easy to sense.

Yes... That makes sense. If we were all asleep because of magic then then the culprit would have been able to move freely. That'd explain why none of us heard the gun.

Be careful saying it that way though. If we admit that magic was needed to commit the crime she'll fuck us over a barrel.

This is difficult. Something like that could easily be done with dust from a fairies wings or a technohexen potion.

[Her world runs on magic or tech.]

Any other way it could be done works. We don't have to find the truth, just a story that counters her story. We know she probably put us to sleep, but the truth is told by the winners.

It may be good to clarify what we need. A story that is not a fantasy, but a mystery.

As long as everything can be explained without magic, then we can lock the witch out of the story.

Exactly. No matter how stupid the story we tell is, as long as it's possible it should still fly.

In order for it to be possible, though, we need to define a culprit that is not the witch nor your friend.

I'm interested in the message on the door. Normally, in a case like this, the victim would be writing the name of their killer, wouldn't they? It is a little bit cliche.

[But there are a lot of cliches here.]

If we think Riku was writing Sora's name, why would he be writing the name of someone who isn't here? That's a strange thing to expend your energy on, at the verge of death.
