MOCK ROUND INTRO LOG

Welcome to Rokkenjima. This island may just be a copy in the middle of reformation, but the Witch extends her greetings all the same. Please, relax.

This game is just a trial run, but please do not think you can sleep through this. The Witch fully intends to put the system through its paces, so please put up a good fight.

The difficulty level depends on you. Think deeply on your moves during this short play time.

You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.

It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite whatever it was when you laid eyes on the envelope.

...Speaking of, Every last one of you have an envelope in your hands, with a gold letter 'L' on it. It's the same letter you were reading before you 'woke' up here, after all. More than that, those of you who had supernatural or magical abilities will feel...strange, as if your abilities are being forcibly blocked. Try as you might, you just can't use them - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.

If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.

As they leave, you can't help but wonder...

What did you just get yourself into?

Mock Round Calendar!
The taken page still requires a little coding, but it should be done by sometime today.
Thank you for your patience!

[Yes, she's attending breakfast in her cloak. She will wear it until she loses the reason to wear it. But Scarred watches the light show and the speech with a frown. Because what did she wish for?

But she coughs into a hand to draw attention. Not even reaching to eat yet.]

You say we need to solve a murder that one of us will commit. And that you're going to claim it was yourself... But you've already said that one of us would be the perpetrator?

[She's not squinting, not outwardly. But you just said you'd be scapegoating?]
strawberryshortcackle: (It's the occult island)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. That's what you're playing against - the 'illusion of the witch' so to speak.

[She shifts, taking a sip of her tea.]

Hm, maybe I should put it another way. You know how when a crime occurs when there's no police or law enforcement around, and everyone goes 'hm, instead of getting involved in this, maybe we should just pretend none of us did this', and acts like they don't know anything. Sometimes, they'll even blame it on 'an act of god' or 'well, he went into a house that was haunted, so clearly this wasn't anyone's fault.'

I'm not even looking for 'the culprit', you know? What I want all of you to do...is just decide if you want to point the fingers at each other, or blame something you can't punish to spare the group.
ladyscarred: (Nobody wishes for it)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-10 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
So...We're to treat you as some kind of force of nature?

[That seemed simple enough. The people who disappeared, leaving those crests behind were just written off as a sign of the apocalypse so...]

What happens if we just agree that you did it?
strawberryshortcackle: (It's time to satiate my thirst)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd be disappointed - and then I could do whatever I wanted with you, because you admitted 'I exist.'

Though I wouldn't do anything really bad - maybe just have you all spend a few hours cleaning something filthy somewhere or something.
ladyscarred: (Being alone is sad but safe)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-10 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't understand. Why do we have to admit you exist in the first place? [But this is coming from a half-fairy so...Witches weren't even remotely new to her.]

That sounds like a normal punishment...
strawberryshortcackle: (It's the occult island)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Because then you're saying 'none of us did it - it was god. or a demon, or a fairy.' And if you admit that, then you're opening yourself up to the rules of those creatures.

If you refuse to find someone through human means - and obey human laws - then you obey fantasy ones. Even fairies have rules they have to obey, right?
ladyscarred: (This song isn't long enough)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-10 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose all species agreed to follow the laws of the country they reside in... But a witches would follow most of those laws as well. Except in countries where witchcraft is illegal.

Why is it different here? [Life is hard when you live in a fantasy soup pot.]
strawberryshortcackle: (I've gone through the grimoires)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Think of it as the 'laws' of this country, then. In this 'country', if you say that a witch did something, then you become her 'property' and she can use you as she likes. Because you didn't take the option of trying to figure out a 'human' solution.

[She's starting to look a little annoyed, though.]
ladyscarred: (Look to the sky and see how vast it is)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-10 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I see, thank you...[That makes sense. Even if she's still not sure of the point still.]

This sounds like something my sister would enjoy.
strawberryshortcackle: (the island drifts in the waves)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh thank god. She perks up, now that she won't have to explain anymore.]

Well, I'd think a lot of people would enjoy this kind of thing. Mystery novels are a genre for a reason, right?

Isn't a bit bloody for most people- [Then Silver mentions that it's all pretend. And there's a noise as she just puts her face in her hands.]

I thought you meant you were going to... So this is just like a normal reenactment. Why didn't you just say that from the start? [She was worrying over nothing, now she just feels silly. Then something occurs to her.]

You said two weeks, but I cannot be here for two weeks. The excu- I have to be somewhere next week.

[Excuse you, her little sister is supposed to murder her next week.]
strawberryshortcackle: (I'm moaning in pleasure!)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-10 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, don't worry. Time is stopped back in your world until I put you back in it, you see? You'll be right back on schedule when we're done here.
ladyscarred: (before I forget my feelings for you)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-10 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her hands are meeting her face again.]

You're doing this on purpose aren't you? ... You really would get along with my sister.
strawberryshortcackle: (the island drifts in the waves)

[personal profile] strawberryshortcackle 2019-02-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Your sister? ...Ah right, you guys are faeries, aren't you? A Witch and a Faerie isn't far off from each other, though a Witch is higher.
ladyscarred: (Look to the sky and see how vast it is)

[personal profile] ladyscarred 2019-02-11 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[Scarred is lifting her head again in realization.]

...Is it like the children who are hidden by the fairies in the forest then. I suppose I should thank you for two more weeks, shouldn't I?

[And she smiles, it's weak and unsure but she's okay with this.]
