MOCK ROUND INTRO LOG
Welcome to
This game is just a trial run, but please do not think you can sleep through this. The Witch fully intends to put the system through its paces, so please put up a good fight.
The difficulty level depends on you. Think deeply on your moves during this short play time.
You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.
It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite whatever it was when you laid eyes on the envelope.
...Speaking of, Every last one of you have an envelope in your hands, with a gold letter 'L' on it. It's the same letter you were reading before you 'woke' up here, after all. More than that, those of you who had supernatural or magical abilities will feel...strange, as if your abilities are being forcibly blocked. Try as you might, you just can't use them - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.
If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.
As they leave, you can't help but wonder...
What did you just get yourself into?
Mock Round Calendar!
The taken page still requires a little coding, but it should be done by sometime today.
Thank you for your patience!

But she coughs into a hand to draw attention. Not even reaching to eat yet.]
You say we need to solve a murder that one of us will commit. And that you're going to claim it was yourself... But you've already said that one of us would be the perpetrator?
[She's not squinting, not outwardly. But you just said you'd be scapegoating?]

[She shifts, taking a sip of her tea.]
Hm, maybe I should put it another way. You know how when a crime occurs when there's no police or law enforcement around, and everyone goes 'hm, instead of getting involved in this, maybe we should just pretend none of us did this', and acts like they don't know anything. Sometimes, they'll even blame it on 'an act of god' or 'well, he went into a house that was haunted, so clearly this wasn't anyone's fault.'
I'm not even looking for 'the culprit', you know? What I want all of you to do...is just decide if you want to point the fingers at each other, or blame something you can't punish to spare the group.

[That seemed simple enough. The people who disappeared, leaving those crests behind were just written off as a sign of the apocalypse so...]
What happens if we just agree that you did it?

Though I wouldn't do anything really bad - maybe just have you all spend a few hours cleaning something filthy somewhere or something.

That sounds like a normal punishment...

If you refuse to find someone through human means - and obey human laws - then you obey fantasy ones. Even fairies have rules they have to obey, right?

Why is it different here? [Life is hard when you live in a fantasy soup pot.]

[She's starting to look a little annoyed, though.]

This sounds like something my sister would enjoy.

Well, I'd think a lot of people would enjoy this kind of thing. Mystery novels are a genre for a reason, right?

I thought you meant you were going to... So this is just like a normal reenactment. Why didn't you just say that from the start? [She was worrying over nothing, now she just feels silly. Then something occurs to her.]
You said two weeks, but I cannot be here for two weeks. The excu- I have to be somewhere next week.
[Excuse you, her little sister is supposed to murder her next week.]

You're doing this on purpose aren't you? ... You really would get along with my sister.

...Is it like the children who are hidden by the fairies in the forest then. I suppose I should thank you for two more weeks, shouldn't I?
[And she smiles, it's weak and unsure but she's okay with this.]
