Welcome to ~~Rokkenjima~~. This island may just be a copy in the middle of reformation, but the Witch extends her greetings all the same. Please, relax.

This game is just a trial run, but please do not think you can sleep through this. The Witch fully intends to put the system through its paces, so please put up a good fight.

The difficulty level depends on you. Think deeply on your moves during this short play time.

You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.

It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite whatever it was when you laid eyes on the envelope.

...Speaking of, Every last one of you have an envelope in your hands, with a gold letter 'L' on it. It's the same letter you were reading before you 'woke' up here, after all. More than that, those of you who had supernatural or magical abilities will feel...strange, as if your abilities are being forcibly blocked. Try as you might, you just can't use them - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.

If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.

As they leave, you can't help but wonder...

Pink and pumpkins... pastel goth?

I didn't know there was a word for combining pink with pumpkins.

[In fact, she hasn't seen a pumpkin in a while, either. These things happen when the world ends.

Have a vaguely confused blink or two as she tries to process witch aesthetics.]

Or just 'horrifically clashing'.

Maybe it's a form of psychological warfare.

[She said that with a straight face. Mostly. There's a softening around the eyes where she didn't bother to hide her bemusement.]

I can feel my will draining already.

Oh, is that all we need to knock you out of the game?

[It's said lightly enough, but she sobers a bit after a moment.]

That would be ideal. An easy game.

[And probably a pipe dream at this point. She doesn't know witches, but she sure does know her own luck.]

Sorry to crush your dreams, but I'm winning this game.

They wouldn't be crushed either way, so don't worry. This is just a shortcut.

[Sometimes when you have a lot to do, you need to know where to cut corners, you know?

She doesn't seem particularly put off by his declaration; her eyes narrow briefly.]

I don't plan to give up, either.

[He snickers]

Good. Maybe that's what we all have in common- people that will fight for their wishes.

That's obvious, isn't it? I don't imagine the witch, whoever she is, would want a game full of people who had no reason to play.

[A small tilt of the head.]

Though I suppose the witch's motivations don't matter, if she is real.

Heh... that's true. Once she's handing over what I want I couldn't care less why she offered it.

And what are you here for?

[There's a scant curiosity to it. Someone like you, someone ambitious but not desperate; it's a rarity where she comes from, now. An apocalypse will do that to the population.]

My wish? Heh, straight to the point.

Some fucknuts cheated me out of witnessing something precious to me. I want the witch to change that. Might see if I can wrangle some bonuses out of her too while I'm at it.

There's no use beating around the bush in a place like this.

[Not that they'd get much of anywhere with the rosebushes anywho.

She gives a slow nod.]

You want to change something in your past. I want to change something in the world. What bonuses do you imagine the witch to be capable of?

If she can really grant wishes who knows. Maybe a giant pile of gold. Or an open passage so I can march on heaven!

[He seems a little excited at the idea]

The sky's the limit... right?

[It's said musingly, as she turns over his yelling in her head a little bit.

She has no use for gold or silver, unless it's something that won't fall to Ruin. On the other hand...]

If you believe in heaven.

[He smirks like he knows something important]

Always aim for the top. And there's nothing higher than heaven.

I can't say I'm interested in such a thing. Humans might be attached to it... But it's not someplace robots could reach.

[Who knows how their respective places of origin come into this.

She's pretty sure this is no ordinary island. These are no ordinary people. But all the same...]

All we have is the Earth we live on now.

If you're not interested that's fine... but if it's just because it's not 'for you' then you're giving up too easily.

That's a strange thing to say. Are you always invested in things that don't concern you for the sake of them?

[He seems surprised by this at first, then ponders... He pictures his kids. Gobumi, Harpiko, Kuneka, Taddy. How he took out Frog Girl's husband without really thinking about why. Hm

He laughs]

Heh, maybe I am.

[Oh, how thoughtful of him. He's been so spontaneous and loud so far, seeing him be a little quiet is interesting.

She regards him for a moment.]

It's not a bad thing, I suppose. Most of us left that behind a long time ago.

[It's a luxury, caring about such things. That seems to be the consensus, anyway.]

Don't get the wrong idea. I'm the Overlord. A monster. Don't start thinking I'm soft.

[Head... tilt. She's not sure which part is soft.]

You look like a human to me. What sort of a monster is an Overlord?

[Caring about anything other than himself, probably]

The head monster. I'd probably still be a 'human' technically, but I'm their leader too.

[He snickers]

I've already reached the top, so this is my chance to break the ceiling and conquer a whole new world!
