Welcome to Rokkenjima. This island may just be a copy in the middle of reformation, but the Witch extends her greetings all the same. Please, relax.

This game is just a trial run, but please do not think you can sleep through this. The Witch fully intends to put the system through its paces, so please put up a good fight.

The difficulty level depends on you. Think deeply on your moves during this short play time.

You wake with a start - even if you don't remember falling asleep in the first place - and find yourself standing on the dock of what looks like an island. There's a noise behind you - and if you turn to look, you'll see a plain white boat taking off and leaving you all behind, not stopping for a second if you try to flag them down or scream at them.

It doesn't look like you can swim to shore, either - there's nothing but sea in all directions, and something tells you trying to swim out will end up badly. However, a small dip, if you were so inclined, would be fine. It's not like the weather is bad for it - it feels like it's summer, despite whatever it was when you laid eyes on the envelope.

...Speaking of, Every last one of you have an envelope in your hands, with a gold letter 'L' on it. It's the same letter you were reading before you 'woke' up here, after all. More than that, those of you who had supernatural or magical abilities will feel...strange, as if your abilities are being forcibly blocked. Try as you might, you just can't use them - though all of your physical abilities are intact, of course.

If you decide to head up the path, you'll find Goat....men? waiting for you near the doors to the mansion. Despite their bright red eyes, they merely bow politely and wordlessly bring you into the mansion, showing you your rooms and then stating that they will prepare food for you or anything else you should need whenever you want, in surprisingly deep voices.

As they leave, you can't help but wonder...

What did you just get yourself into?

I do. It's like fireworks and festivals isn't it? They're lovely because of how short they are... But I don't think the dryads would feel the same.

Jud. They may be linked with a tree but they're fond of flowers and the sprites that dwell near them.

[It comes with having leaves and flowers for hair.]

Then... you actually know a dryad in person, miss?

A few. They're not as common as lizardmen or wolfmen but they're not rare.

Oh... wow. We have only humans where I'm from.

[Although demons exist so really, who knows what's out there.]

There are places like that?

Yeah... That's not what it's like where you're from?

No. Humans are the most numerous species but there are others. Out of the queen's thirteen elites, seven of them are not human.

Ah, you're ruled by a queen, then?

[Definitely different country.]

Yes. I assume that means you aren't?

We have a king where I'm from. He's been ruling for a while, now - his children are fully grown, but it doesn't seem like they'll be inheriting the throne anytime soon.

The queen where I'm from is still young, there are no children... It seems we really have been moved.

[But she couldn't think of anywhere that matched the king he'd told her about.]

I wonder about the price of a spell like that, though.

It would take a lot of ether... I was thinking that the letters might be connected.

Ether... What would that be?

Everything is made of ether. It's energy in it's purest form.

Is it? I know people have been doing all kinds of studies on that sort of thing, but I don't think anyone ever found out about something like that...

[And that makes her frown.]

It's been known for a long time. Even the long-lived races do not remember who discovered it.

...Even if other countries are hiding information from us, there's no way we would have missed out on a discovery like that.

That doesn't make sense. It's used for so much, fuel, powering spells. Not that I can sense any here...

[Which was worrying. There should be some ether in the air, even if it wasn't much.]

Magic is power in my country, so missing out on a fundamental fact like that...

[It's pretty much impossible. If something like that had been cracked, surely his country would have been conquered by another by now. He's not super familiar with the state of the military, but he knows that much.]

You don't know what ether is, and you didn't know about dryads..?
