FINAL TRIAL

After a very, very long six weeks, it has finally come. The last time everyone will need to trudge up those stairs and meet in the master suite. It's do or die time, and hopefully everyone knows what needs to be done by now.
As soon as the guests walk into the room, they will be able to smell the food that the chef has provided: duck l'orange, served up on a nice platter. Eat up everyone!
There are a few unexpected guests this time. A large group of the rats is here, and they show up in a swarm as they carry Gabe into the room, much like how they had carted him off to the Child Daycare last night. Once he is deposited in the room, Gabe will also stand up and remain there, crossing his arm and looking a bit standoffish.
They're not the only unexpected faces around here, though...

But when has Solid Snake ever had a peaceful life?]
...Tempting offer, but the Foundation's still out there. [The conviction in his tone is unmistakable. This is a decision he's been set on for a while, never put off - only convinced further that it's what he must do.] I'm not going to rest as long as they are.

[Wait fuck that actually makes Phil a little conflicted!]
no subject
[It's not condescending - just a stating of facts.]
I'm not going to let what happened to us, what happened here, happen to anyone else.
no subject
But can't we live a nice life here? I'm sure the other people who are going back can fix it; we don't have to worry about any of this!
[Phil is just... going to grasp at Snake's hand.]
I don't want to go back to the Foundation, Snake. But staying here alone sounds like hell to me. This isn't fair.

[The knowledge that Snake and Ripley are going back out there has wavered his resolve a bit- come on! He wants to raise hell out there too!-, but... He's not leaving Phil behind, and he's sure as fuck not dragging Phil back to the Foundation.]
no subject
I want to do this. I'm not leaving it to anyone else. I want a better future for you, for Medic and Ripley, for these kids...
[He's not going to budge, as much as he wishes he could to make Phil happy, he knows this is what he has to do.]
There's no one more qualified for the job.

If you're heading out there, I'm coming, too. [Her tone is firm and resolute. Soldiers are cut from the same cloth, no matter what genes you have.] Someone's gotta watch your back.
[Between the Foundation and the other threats that exist outside of this resort...she'll only rest once she's sure that her family is safe, as well. And all of the relationships she's forged with the people here....
Surely, they can be counted as family as well.]

[Fuck you guys he doesn't want to go back to that hell foundation!]
no subject
[A small grin appears on her face, but there's little humor in it.] Besides, I still owe you a chair or two, and I don't like having debts.
no subject
You better keep me updated on how you plan on taking down the foundation, alright? I refuse to let you come back here unless you give me details of you and Snake force feeding all of the faculty members cake.
no subject
We'll be trying to keep a low profile, but you'll bet we'll be communicating with you guys. A couple of old soldiers like us can get a lotta damage done, with or without those kids.
no subject
Wouldn't trust anyone else. [He offers out a hand.] ...Should've known you wouldn't let me go back to working solo.
[In spite of it all, his tone is fond, with a deep appreciation and respect.]
no subject
After all of this? Hell no. [She lets go.] We'll need some time to plan and regroup, of course. A base of operations, if you will.

[Medic's not gonna stop him, but. Hey. He wanted all his bfs [and his lesbian best friend] to stay safe.]
no subject
[He could leave it to someone else, sure, but he shakes his head, and looks at Medic in the eyes.]
But I want to do it. This is a decision I've made myself.
[Not an order, not being forced out of circumstance or survival...and that's why it's so important to him.]
no subject
Oh, alright. I can't really convince you not to, ja? Just try to come back and visit sometimes- you and Ripley both. ... We'll miss you.
no subject
I'm going to keep an eye out for an alternative for us and uh...
sorry for biting you on the nose.
no subject
[Since it looks like most of her important people are staying...]
I’m plain positive there’s more benign SCPs or people who want to leave who would join up with you.
no subject
I'm not sure how I feel about running a task force.
[That's his dad's deal...there's still a lot of family stuff to work through.]
But I won't say no to another one for the team.
[He taps where his earpiece would be, if he hadn't been shoved into another new body.]
We're in need of an otaku, besides.

[Of course there are several of them already going rogue -- Ryoga's returning to his natural habitat and who knows who else -- and she knows, logically, that the Fictional White Rabbits are going to have to split up at some point. This is a good crossroads: they can all make their own choices.
The Foundation holds no sway here.
It's something of the ending she was looking for. But:]
I think there will be a lot of us working on it from the inside, too. [because yeah, her decision's already made, too] Will we get to see you again?
no subject
[He has to be honest, there was a lot to come before he'd even be getting close to The Foundation. Even then, chances were he wouldn't be crossing paths with Aoi directly.]
...But don't count it out. [There's something of a smile.] Gotta get you guys out somehow.
