WEEK 6

You wake up to the sound of silence in the halls, the lights still dimmed after what happened on the weekend. The Staff is still soundly gone, including The Chef - and items aren't regenerating out of thin air for all of you anymore. There's still enough food for everyone who's left, but you'll have to make it yourself, now that The Chef is out of commission. No movies play, the Arcade is dead, and all of the animals from the cafe have vanished, beyond the pets you brought or got during the game.

More than that, however, is that The dead no longer seem to be around from a living perspective. While the tablets went down as soon as The Lady did, they seem to not even be able to pick up or interact with the rest of you. Are they still here?

However, there's another major change - as you come down into the lobby, you'll see that The Resort has landed in an area - the ocean is clearly visible, as it rests close to a beach nearby. More than that, however - you can actually go outside. And it seems like the resort won't pull you back in.

You could, conceivably, just walk out the door, and into freedom. But...Should you?

[It's kind of weird to see Chu-Chu being timid or cautious about anything, and Aoi almost gets distracted by the animal interaction going on, but then she shakes her head and goes to answer Sol. Okay.]

I think you probably talked to a few of us last week. Including, um, Schwarzer-kun? He said you could help us talk to the rats here. [oh, right] I'm Aoi, by the way. Zaizen Aoi.

It's gotten pretty bad here. We're... looking for any information we can to save everyone.

Right! You want me to ask them if there's a way to save everyone? I can do that.

If they don't mind, yes.

--Also, if there's anything they'd like us to do for them.

Okay!

[There is a silence for a long time, but then-]

Um. They're crying. A lot. And they want us to save their spouse.

[latebluemer]

Oh.

[It's hard to tell, because she's not used to reading rat emotions or behavior, but even Aoi can see at least that they're pretty distressed. She'll give a gentle nudge at the Rat, trying for reassuring. If the rat comes out of the tunnels, she'll even pet it, because what have they got to lose now?]

Let them know that we're going to do everything we can to save the Resort. But we need to know more about how to do it. We're looking for... a box and a door to the brain, so we can figure out how to get the Outsider out.

[More extended silence, but then!]

They said they will help you find the box!

Thank you very much!

And yes, we'll certainly try our best for you.

[ Chu-Chu will attempt to give the nearest rat a supportive pat on the back. ]

They're saying 'please save my spouse' over and over again. I think they mean it.

[Jeez, she really feels sorry for the rats despite ignoring them all this time. And feels a little bad for doing that. Their group of hapless adventurers has been contributing to the Resort's problems, after all, even if involuntarily. She kind of gets it, though.]

We-- We'd really appreciate it. Just tell them that if they need anything to help with that, or anything else, just come find us, okay?

[Another pause!]

They say okay, and that they will bring the box to you when they find it.

[rosebridled]

[ A nod in agreement with Aoi. ]

We really do appreciate this... I'm sure it's hard to want to do much of anything right now. You and the Resort are very lucky to have each other.

[latebluemer]

[She lets out a small sigh, part relief and part general release of tension. She'll hang out for a bit more to keep the rats company, all things considered, but she turns most of her attention to the stone now.]

That's good to know. And, um, thank you too, Sol. Sorry for putting you to work right away.

It's okay! I like helping! Plus it's to help Ichigo too, right? I want to bring him home. Kon would be so upset if he died forever.

I'm... glad to hear that. We'll probably have to call on you a lot, but you've already been a big help.

[What a cheerful rock?? She's not sure what she expected, but in between all the murder and the crying rats Sol being kind of chipper in their own way is both kind of wonky and kind of helpful...

There's a small silence where she contemplates Ichigo's death flags.]

And yes. We want to bring Kurosaki-san and everyone else home. You can let Kon-san know we're making progress.

I will! He misses his brother a lot, so he'll be excited to hear that.

His brother?

[She blinks, and then frowns a little to herself, thinking back over what little she knows of Ichigo outside of his relationship with the Outsider and the Resort. Something happened at the last sleepover, she remembers, because Cinque was being Cinque.

Her voice is a little softer when she goes on.]

He never told us he had a brother.

[She's guessing there's a lot Ichigo hasn't told them.]

What?

WHAT?!

[Oh, look who's here now.]

[Wincing a little and holding the stone a little away from herself reflexively; we're guessing that doesn't help with the screaming. She's starting to see why the Outsider was so startled.......]

... Is that Kon-san?

What do you mean he didn't tell you guys about me?!

[Yep, that's Kon.]

Well, I wouldn't say I know him that well, but -- I've never really heard him talk about the Camp or before the Resort, much.

It's... nice to meet you, though?

[Not the best of circumstances, but just in general, there's no such thing here.]

Yeah, I figured he wouldn't mention camp, but he's always been about being 'the oldest' and everything! Did he really not mention me at all? What about Yuzu and Karin?

[Sorry Aoi. He'll be polite in a moment, he's just still stunned right now.]

[It's fine, they're literally talking over Stone Skype in the middle of a minor crisis involving eventual ducks and vore on vacation, what's a few delayed pleasantries. Honestly, though, she feels a little bad for mystery brother and not only because she is probably not the best person to field this.]

Not at all. We mostly just heard about the drama with him and his senior agent.

[She wondered sometimes if he had a family at all or if he just had bad luck being adopted around.]
