WEEK 6

You wake up to the sound of silence in the halls, the lights still dimmed after what happened on the weekend. The Staff is still soundly gone, including The Chef - and items aren't regenerating out of thin air for all of you anymore. There's still enough food for everyone who's left, but you'll have to make it yourself, now that The Chef is out of commission. No movies play, the Arcade is dead, and all of the animals from the cafe have vanished, beyond the pets you brought or got during the game.

More than that, however, is that The dead no longer seem to be around from a living perspective. While the tablets went down as soon as The Lady did, they seem to not even be able to pick up or interact with the rest of you. Are they still here?

However, there's another major change - as you come down into the lobby, you'll see that The Resort has landed in an area - the ocean is clearly visible, as it rests close to a beach nearby. More than that, however - you can actually go outside. And it seems like the resort won't pull you back in.

You could, conceivably, just walk out the door, and into freedom. But...Should you?

That if things go super bad, you get the others out.

Only if we save everyone.

[And there are some things she wants to confirm with him in relative privacy, possibly. She does give Owain a quick nod before settling nearby.]

[ tho i mean. aoi. please remember this is still owain's tablet so he can read it later. but he'll respect her privacy if she asks him to ]

[She figures, though it's less about Owain and more about the general public.

There aren't a lot of secrets left between the lot of them, anyway, what with all the memories coming back and everything. Anyway, she'll be tapping away some messages here, quietly focused, though she'll glance up while waiting for responses.]

You remembered everything too, didn't you? I don't know if I ever met you in person, before.

[Or did they just yell at each other over comms forever.]

[ a pause and a nod ]

Yeah, all those memories finally came back. It's good to actually meet you, for once.

I wish it were under better circumstances. But I don't think... there are a lot of better circumstances, with our employer.

[Yeah, she's not one to be out in the field much. Her current mood is just like, past self, you were so right about literally everything. She shakes her head a little.]

I can assure you that field missions... are just about as bad as this.

[ says the one who gets sent out on them a lot ]

This is probably the worst one I've seen.

[It would be more ironic if it really weren't the worst, after the last weekend. And if all of them hadn't had people ripped away from them; but probably Owain more than most. Her voice goes softer for a moment.]

That's why I always hated it, you know. Everything. But working with people in the field...

[Past her was pretty sure it was the worst. Present her is also pretty sure it's the worst, but in a different way.]

It's worse, when you know that none of them will be coming back alive. [ says that like he's been on missions where everyone but him died ]

At least here... here we have hope.

[She's quiet for a little while, perhaps messaging, perhaps thinking over his words and letting them sink in; perhaps both. It's that kind of a day.]

I'm sorry.

[There are a lot of things to be sorry for, both here and back where they all were. Back when they might all have been slightly different people.]

But that's what I think too. It's funny, but... no matter how bad it gets here, it's not the end yet. It can't be.

I don't know about you, but I won't accept an end until we're all out of here and alive.

Then we agree. I refuse to accept an ending where we give up on the ghosts.

[She's aware that she's running on sheer stubbornness and not entirely rational motivations, but Aoi also knows that this is the only way she can move forward from here. So here she is.
