WEEK 6

You wake up to the sound of silence in the halls, the lights still dimmed after what happened on the weekend. The Staff is still soundly gone, including The Chef - and items aren't regenerating out of thin air for all of you anymore. There's still enough food for everyone who's left, but you'll have to make it yourself, now that The Chef is out of commission. No movies play, the Arcade is dead, and all of the animals from the cafe have vanished, beyond the pets you brought or got during the game.

More than that, however, is that The dead no longer seem to be around from a living perspective. While the tablets went down as soon as The Lady did, they seem to not even be able to pick up or interact with the rest of you. Are they still here?

However, there's another major change - as you come down into the lobby, you'll see that The Resort has landed in an area - the ocean is clearly visible, as it rests close to a beach nearby. More than that, however - you can actually go outside. And it seems like the resort won't pull you back in.

You could, conceivably, just walk out the door, and into freedom. But...Should you?

You're right--maybe some of the other guests aren't around anymore? And if that's true, it'll make looking around for stuff easier.

I remember him mentioning something about that--they'll probably be more open to talking about things more too?

I know the oil monster was guarding a lot of things. You never know what we might find up there.

[They are still looking for that pesky box and whatever door, after all.]

And yeah. Now that things have gotten this bad, I think they’ll want to help. Speaking of which... Inaba-san mentioned that the dead might try and contact us through the rats in case of emergency. They’re multiplanar, so it doesn’t matter if the ghosts can interact with our plane or not.

[Hopefully it works and there are no more ghostly surprises. Please.]

...Really? I guess we can see what's going on in that room first--I remember Inaba mentioning the oil monster was in room 202.

It doesn't look like they're able to do much with the tablets now, so that's kind of useful to know. I don't think things will start getting easier just because the Staff is all gone and we've actually stopped traveling around in the Resort.

[ If anything, Roxas wouldn't be surprised if it got harder, but he hopes that it wouldn't be that much of a difficulty spike. ]

Mmhmm. They said that it shouldn't be aggressive as long as you don't steal anything. Since we don't know where it is right now, it would be good to be careful going in.

[Just in case. They've both got the caution routine memorized by now, haven't they? Advantages of adVENTures.]

The ghosts... said that they would leave the food to us. I don't know if that's why they're intangible, but I believe they're still there. We can at least ask the rats or one of the other multiplanar guests to confirm that.

I think I can avoid just taking random stuff with me if it turns out to be something that I wouldn't need to--and for something like notes I could just copy that stuff down...

[ It's funny, but it has. That and Roxas has a very high want to keep himself from getting hurt too much if he can avoid it--one of the people who has a high amount of self-preservation, for a lot of reasons. ]

We should be okay with food for awhile at least...and I don't think they've just simply gone away just because we can't feel them or anything. But, asking that would help.

[ Yeah he's still worried about them--even a certain person he's still kind of. Really mad at!!! ]

That's a good idea, and if you can -- definitely take someone to watch your back, okay? It might be a good idea for us all to split the floor between ourselves, anyway.

[They don't know who's still here and who's going, among the other guests.

They don't know what the hell 34 is still up to, or if they've been abandoned now that the game is over. There are all kinds of possibilities, and while Aoi's self-preservation is in a sort of weird Schroedinger state right now, she hasn't stopped being cautious. They have a lot riding on them.]

Let's ask around. And... I guess, we'll figure something out, for cooking and everything.

[Please help, she can make food on the level of instant ramen and that's it.]

I'll probably be fine, but...there's no reason not to be careful after everything.

[ So Roxas will look for a second to accompany him. He's capable but a second set of eyes is good in case of a bad surprise even he can't see or something to that effect. ]

...I only know how to make one dish, so I'm not sure if I should be cooking anything if it's not one thing for breakfast. So, if we have someone more capable maybe we should get them on cooking duty?

[ He knew of exactly two people here who were good at cooking and, uh. They're currently busy being in ghost land. So. ]

[This is why you're one of like two people she doesn't expect to immediately yeet themselves into the void and die half the time, Roxas. You have a modicum of common sense and self-preservation.

Aoi gives him a quick nod for that, and then goes back to contemplating their cooking conundrum. Because there sure is one??]

... I can make instant food, but I'm not sure how much of that we have. Um, which dish can you make?

[Is it eggs. Why did they kill all their known cooks on top of all their doctors.]

[ Also that's hilarious because it is, in fact, the only dish he can make. ]

[Eggs are the staple food, this tracks. Luckily, though, it seems they're saved by the bell(igerent violinist).]

And it's really good to have for a few days.

[ Definitely not like as much as 358/2 Days, though. ]

You can put a bunch of stuff into it, too. Though, I'm pretty sure that's an omelette.

[What exactly is the dividing line between scrambled and omelette: a philosophical question.

There are definitely egg diets that take 358/2 days but they are not for noodle animes.]

...I'm pretty sure I can't make an omelette. I'd probably just make a mess in the kitchen instead.

[ It's an amusing thought but while Roxas is sure he can put stuff into it and the mun just made herself one, he'd mess up the 'after' for sure.

Definitely not a sustainable diet for either of these two. ]

Can you really mess up that badly just switching from scrambled to omelettes? I thought it was just eggs all the way.

But you have to keep it together and inside somehow even when you flip it or something...it's pretty hard to do, actually.

[ ...Roxas sure didn't have any robots cooking for him, but he is used to other people having done so for him already. ]

[ Listening in from the sidelines, Kohaku heaves a sigh and walks over. Time to actually commit to being useful to the group, huh? Now that they've all decided to voluntarily risk their lives and all that. ]

I can do it. Nothing super fancy, but I get the feeling that none of you have aristocratic taste-buds anyway.

Sure thing. The sooner some others of you learn, the less work for me.

[ Not that he actually dislikes cooking, even if he's been doing less and less of it in recent years. ]

[ Roxas has been trying to learn how to cook for awhile now, so he'll smile a little at that. ]

I'll be counting on you to show me how to cook all of the things you can cook, then.

... I think most of us just want to get through this without running out of food because we're burning it all or something...

[She peers curiously at him.]

Oh, come on! You knew I lived in an inn, did you really think I'm too dense to pick up cooking while helping out?

Well, I didn't know if that was part of your duties or not?

[She kind of pictured him working security at the inn or something in addition to the music thing, but apparently he's a jack-of-all-trades. So you learn something every day in this joint.]

What kind of food is it?

[She neglected to ask what kind of inn, come to think of it.]
