WEEK 5

They said it was a break week, but two of your number were lost anyway last week. While you're all tired and still recovering, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. The game is back on. Break week is now over. Happy Holidays."

The Staff are still like they were last week - only this time, the orders almost always go wrong, if they even manage to go through - the Staff are vanishing constantly. Meals are also getting affected - they're still perfectly edible, but they're not as delicious as they once were, with seasoning and other things occasionally being off. The Sign warning people to not take knives is still on the kitchen door, but The Chef seems incredibly tired, often resting on a chair in the corner.

The Resort is still furnished with Holiday items - but after Medic's christmas protest, there are more items related to other holidays up, and it's much more balanced - objects and colors of multiple holidays side by side in harmony, with the mistletoe still up for any needed smooching. There are, however, more wriggling...things, and there's even an entire 'tree' made of eldritch tentacles with glowing balls of light on them that wink in an oddly hypnotic fashion.

The weather is still nothing, but the courtyard seems to have switched to a much warmer clime, which while still a little cool is pleasant enough to sit outside in. Finally, the music this week seems... almost ominous...?

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone, one more traumatic this time instead of gentle like the others have been. Yet, you feel as if you know a little more about your time in this world, now. Not everything, but...enough.

Enough to see this game through to the end, at least.

[ Looks like there's a bunnyhoodie peering into the depths of the tank today too, both hands pressed up against the glass and... nearly his face, maybe. The hood is at least brushing against it. ]

[drops his hand on top of the bunnyhoodie's head]

[Akira seems tired]

[ He lifts his head in surprise. turning it to look at Akira properly. Ah, let him fetch his tablet-- ]

i've never been to a big aquarium like this before!! my town didn't have anything like it

[there's a pause while Akira fishes his own tablet out of his jacket, and then lets out a soft snort when he reads the message]

Fish in an aquarium are nothing like the fish I used to catch in the lake back home.

whoa, you used to fish?

even living out in the country i didn't do anything like that

Mmm. It was one of the only ways to pass the time where I used to live. I got pretty good at it.

Even when I moved to Tokyo, I used to go to Ichigaya to fish all of the time.

even at home i pretty much played video games when i wasn't going to school...

there was a place to fish in the city?

[purrtagonist]

An artificial fishing center. It wasn't the same as fishing straight out of a lake, but I liked going at night when it was peaceful.

[. . . pats bunnyhoodie's head]

When we get out of here, I'll find a place to take you fishing.

[resortghosts]

[ He raises his head a bit at the headpats. Those aren't ever going to get old, it seems. ]

yeah, i guess that makes sense. in my part of the city, all the plants were artificial, too. you had to go to a different area to see real ones.

not that i've been, though!

[BOY. . .]

I'll take you on a nature walk, too. So you can become one with the world.

[he appreciates video games as much as the next person but Yoshi ya gotta get out more]

i guess i'm not really a shut-in anymore, either...

i'm not even sure when that stopped, but

[ And then he stops writing abruptly, still staring at the tablet. Hm. ]

. . . but?

[he's noticing that hesitation]

[ Hang on while he tries to formulate a reply. ]

it was probably one of my missions, i guess!

Is that really what you were going to say?

[for some reason, he doubts this]

[ More hesitation. And then: ]

i didn't really think that far while i was writing

a lot of things are just weird now?

Because you have friends? Or. . . because of something else?

i remembered seeing big bro mikado here and it turns out he's my future self?

he's the one who suggested i stay with him when i became a shut in

but if he was just me from the future all along that's really weird, right?
