WEEK 5

They said it was a break week, but two of your number were lost anyway last week. While you're all tired and still recovering, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. The game is back on. Break week is now over. Happy Holidays."

The Staff are still like they were last week - only this time, the orders almost always go wrong, if they even manage to go through - the Staff are vanishing constantly. Meals are also getting affected - they're still perfectly edible, but they're not as delicious as they once were, with seasoning and other things occasionally being off. The Sign warning people to not take knives is still on the kitchen door, but The Chef seems incredibly tired, often resting on a chair in the corner.

The Resort is still furnished with Holiday items - but after Medic's christmas protest, there are more items related to other holidays up, and it's much more balanced - objects and colors of multiple holidays side by side in harmony, with the mistletoe still up for any needed smooching. There are, however, more wriggling...things, and there's even an entire 'tree' made of eldritch tentacles with glowing balls of light on them that wink in an oddly hypnotic fashion.

The weather is still nothing, but the courtyard seems to have switched to a much warmer clime, which while still a little cool is pleasant enough to sit outside in. Finally, the music this week seems... almost ominous...?

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone, one more traumatic this time instead of gentle like the others have been. Yet, you feel as if you know a little more about your time in this world, now. Not everything, but...enough.

Enough to see this game through to the end, at least.

Well, no they really weren't...since they were just trapped here. And the Resort only thinks of SCPS as guests.

The cookie guy just called normal humans 'single universe beings'?

Yeah, we asked about the people who come from this dimension and that's what he called them. He... implied that they would mess up the cleanliness of the place if they were here. And he wouldn't stay here with them around.

[It was actually pretty speciesist.....]

I wonder if he's the only one of these guests who thinks that.

[ Roxas has never spoken with the guy and already he's not sure he wants to. ]

I think he's the only one we've met so far that we could understand right away. So it's hard to say... He's been really helpful, but still.

[But still. It's kind of degrading at the end of the day.]

I guess it was bound to happen with at least one of them, seeing as it sounds to me like even the Resort doesn't think much of humans. And you're right that he's been helpful even if he has a thing against them.

[ Roxas doesn't really consider himself human, SCP or not, on account of being a Nobody, but it was still kind of...yeah. Still, he knows from what she's said the gorilla guy hasn't been much unpleasant despite that one sticking point. ]

If the ordinary people from this world come here only to disappear... I can imagine that they don't even register to most of the guests. I guess maybe they're not related to what's happening right now.

[They have to solve one thing at a time, probably. The fact that the Resort might occasionally just nom ordinary people is a little low on the totem pole just now, unfortunately.]

...That's true.

[ Roxas doesn't seem to think that's a wrong assumption to make either, so... ]

We've got enough information that maybe we should start figuring out what to do next to figure out more in general. But, I think we've got a lot more options than we did before.

... Oh, I know you mentioned speaking to the cookie guy and the raccoon but were there any other ones you had a chance to speak with?

I haven't tried talking to the other guests yet -- I'm not sure how many of them we can actually communicate with, and I don't think the staff is going to be helpful anymore.

[Maybe they should have tried this when the staff could still translate? Who knows.]

But I think it would be a good idea to try and get as much out of them as we can. Now that we know which questions to ask.

I don't like asking the staff for things anyway.

[ Roxas still doesn't like them very much ... ]

... Questions like what, though? About the mafia game and stuff like that?

I think that's where most of our mysteries are now. How and why this mafia game got started and is running. And how exactly the Resort works. Where the Outsider is.

I don't know how much help all of them are going to be, but it's probably our best bet right now.

You said you already spoke to the cookie guy already, right? Which room was he in?

[ So Roxas knows which rooms to try first before getting to that guy to see if chatting up the other guests is a possibility. ]

We actually found him in the animal cafe. Nanashi talked to him there, too. I guess, like the oil monster, he has a place outside his room where it's easier to find him...

I'm not sure if that's the case for any of the others, though. I don't think I've seen them around as much.
