WEEK 5

They said it was a break week, but two of your number were lost anyway last week. While you're all tired and still recovering, the speakers crackle to life with the voice of The Lady.

"Attention, Guests. The game is back on. Break week is now over. Happy Holidays."

The Staff are still like they were last week - only this time, the orders almost always go wrong, if they even manage to go through - the Staff are vanishing constantly. Meals are also getting affected - they're still perfectly edible, but they're not as delicious as they once were, with seasoning and other things occasionally being off. The Sign warning people to not take knives is still on the kitchen door, but The Chef seems incredibly tired, often resting on a chair in the corner.

The Resort is still furnished with Holiday items - but after Medic's christmas protest, there are more items related to other holidays up, and it's much more balanced - objects and colors of multiple holidays side by side in harmony, with the mistletoe still up for any needed smooching. There are, however, more wriggling...things, and there's even an entire 'tree' made of eldritch tentacles with glowing balls of light on them that wink in an oddly hypnotic fashion.

The weather is still nothing, but the courtyard seems to have switched to a much warmer clime, which while still a little cool is pleasant enough to sit outside in. Finally, the music this week seems... almost ominous...?

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone, one more traumatic this time instead of gentle like the others have been. Yet, you feel as if you know a little more about your time in this world, now. Not everything, but...enough.

Enough to see this game through to the end, at least.

... wow, I must truly look like shit to draw concern from mafia.

[ That's almost funny, really, and situational comedy seems to be one of the few pleasures in life that can't be taken from him.]

I just remembered and returned to how I was before this.

If it's any consolation, it's not really hard to guess when just about everyone is in the same situation as you.

[At least with regards to memories, anyways.]

I mean, there's just nothing quite like waking up and realizing you've died at least a dozen times before.

[ And apparently nobody else shares this specific kind of awful experience. He's mad about that, too. ]

Unless, of course, someone else is hiding a worse sobstory memory around here.

Well, it's definitely different, I'll give you that. ...Are you afraid of dying?

Well... not anymore. No point to it, you know?

[ A healthy fear of death would probably be healthy indeed, but that's effort to maintain. ]

It figures, if you've gone through it so many times by now. Still, it's kinda messed up to say something like that.

[Not that it's Kohaku's fault, but there's something distinctly wrong about a statement like that. Like he's just given up on everything.]

I challenge you to name one thing that isn't messed up about our current lives.

[ The Foundation is such a wonderful employer. ]

Well...I'd say that normally things wouldn't be this messed up here, but... point. But honestly, maybe you guys should just stay here after this all blows over.

[Probably more like 'if' this blows over, but why not try to be a little bit optimistic.]

It'd bore me to yet another death, but I'd lie if I hadn't thought about it today.

[ He'd go crazy staying in one place forever. Even now he's already longing for a world outside. Yet... this place is far more comfortable than the Foundation. Safer, too, ironically. ]

This place does change for us, so if you wanted something more exciting, maybe it'd make something like that for you. But in the end, it's your choice to make. I don't really have much of an opinion either way, as long as you don't decide to spend your stay running around and trying to kill me.

The only reason to kill you is to get out or if you try to kill me. So really, do your best playing tourist guide.

If you sell me on this place, I'll gladly let you go.

Well, if that's your take on it, I think we'd get by fine as long I stay out of your hair and you stay out of mine.

Although... I don't really know how much you'd be able to 'pay' the resort anyways.

I'll be a regular fountain of positive feelings if I'm not dying every second day anymore.

[ Judging by the sarcastic tone, he does not believe that himself. ]

Yeah, I'll bet. [He sounds as convinced as Kohaku himself does.] But it's still probably an improvement over what you're feeling right now, so maybe that'll count.

Although, what would it even take to make you happy anyways?

Dunno, freedom? So that's right out. ..a use for my music, maybe?

You could play for the other guests, maybe? I feel like there's someone around who would appreciate it. [Shush, he doesn't know the complete extent of Kohaku's ability. Also, he's totally thinking of the Cookie Gojira...]
