Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[Because she'd know by now if anyone else here were from Den City. It's not exactly hard to tell in this crowd.]

But there's no way anyone in Japan couldn't have heard about BitPhones.

Oh. So you haven't seen other places.

[It's just her idle reaction while she processes that. That... does explain some things! Like his all of him. The shut-in culture runs deep. But it's not like she's going to judge -- she isn't nearly as social as she appears, after all.]

... If you're implying that there are different Japans now, I-- That's way too complicated!

I don't want to be implying it either! That kind of stuff is for fiction only!

[Says the guy who can see the world in numbers.]

I don't think it's usually even done well in fiction, so what makes this place think it can do it?

[Says the girl who's actually a virtual version of herself.]

Do you think we can ask the staff for a rewrite on this plot?

I don't know if we can call it a mole. The... Those of us from the blizzard aren't the only ones they call guests.

Thinking about the other guests is really hard, much less guests who can rewrite reality!

I don't think any of the other guests are normal. Then again... the same can probably be said for us.

[She's pretty sure. She's not normal in any sense of the word. Also there are dragons and tiny pegasi, which are weirder and weirder the more she thinks about it.]

I guess so! It's not every day you see a virtual idol!

No, and it isn't everyday you see... those are bunny ears, aren't they? Let me see.

[She's going to reach out, not far enough to touch them, but just to scope them out.

If he allows it, though, maybe she'll poke them to see what the heck is going on there.]

Those are my BitPhone.

[He doesn't much react when she reaches out to check them out - if she actually does try to touch them, her hand will phase through because they're just holograms.]

It's a custom mod I made myself! ...Well, more like I made it thanks to big bro Mikado.

[It’s partly realization as her hand moves right through the holographic accessories, and partly appreciation at the make of these — even in terms of holograms their resolution and solidity is amazing. She smiles a little and pulls her hand away.]

They’re pretty cute. You— have a brother who’s good at tech too, huh?

He's actually my cousin, but I call him big bro!

Does that mean you have a brother?

My stepbrother. Akira. He’s an amazing hacker.

[You can probably see the way her face lights up a little in a way that has nothing to do with acting or personas, even if you’re not looking too closely.]

He helps manage Link VRAINS.

That's kind of like big bro Mikado!

He's the one who created the Master Program, and he maintains it all by himself. Says he doesn't like others touching it.

I don’t think anyone could maintain Link VRAINS alone. Your brother sounds pretty amazing, too.

He's incredible! There's no comparison between a real genius like him and good for nothing garbage like me!

I don’t think your brother would be happy with that comparison.

[She and Akira might be somewhat dysfunctional, but they’re definitely more functional than that.]

What’s the Master Program, anyway?

The Master Program is a program they implemented about four months ago to store everyone's ID and information. Before that, there were all kinds of cases where IDs would get lost, but since then, not a one. Everyone connects to it through their BitPhone!
