INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[ he stumbles slightly as he's interrupted, but corrects himself easily enough, giving minato a small wave. ]

Unfortunately, the rest of my heroic introduction would need to wait until I come up with something better than heat to overcome the snow.

Hm... that's fair.

[A shrug.]

I can be patient. I'll be eager to see what you come up with.

It will be an introduction worthy of legend, I assure you!

Were you somewhere snowy before this forest...?

I was on a journey to visit my parents at their new home in the snowy lands of Regna Ferox!

So you were...

It's just that it was spring and sunny at home, so... This is kind of surprising.

[ right between minnesota and wisconsin ]

Hmm, it's most likely some sort of transportation magic that is at work here.

[Huh...]

That's kind of shocking...

That something like that can just happen whenever, I mean.

[ thinking about it more ]

If it happened, then it wasn't by chance, I would think.

So you think we were all kidnapped for a reason...?

I guess that makes sense, but I don't know if that makes it feel any better.

It would be the only thing that would make sense. Unless they did so by accident.

... Kidnapped by accident...

[Minato just kind of sighs.]

Actually, neither possibility is good.

You're handling the idea of it pretty well, though.

'Tis not the first time this hero has woken up in a location that was not intended.

[A long... long pause...]

... Do you have any tips for the rest of us?

Asses the surroundings and what you have available. Here, while we're in a snowstorm, at least we're dressed for it. That's what is making me think that someone actually brought us here on purpose.

[Minato idly plucks at a sleeve.]

... You're right about that. I definitely wasn't wearing this before.

I'm glad that they made sure we wouldn't freeze to death, I guess.

They clearly want us for something, but what that may be...

We'll find out when we get there, right...? There's no point in worrying too much about it.

[ nods ]

Our more pressing concern is to find shelter, right now.

... Yeah, it's cold enough right now. I don't want to think about how cold it'll be when it gets dark.

[YIKES.]
