Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

Ow!

[It definitely thunks into his head. This kid's just... on the verge of collapse, it looks like. His hands are on his knees for now, but he could very well faceplant into the snow at any second.]

I'm dead... This is what I get for being a no good shut in who can't even do five pushups!

[WHEEZE.]

[NOTE TO SELF: yell out fore before throwing things next time]

Do. . . you need a piggyback ride?

Maybe?

[He's still huffing for breath.]

I... Haven't left the apartment... in four months... Urgh.

[He drops down to one knee like the weak noodle he is.]

[hmmmm he sure is getting Futaba vibes. there's a pause, and then he steps forward, extending a hand towards Yoshi]

[and then he says, voice firm, gaze unwavering]

I can show you the world.

[SHINING SHIMMERING SPLENDID--]

Or at least this snowy forest path.

That might be... the only way... I get to see the rest of it... [HUFF. He reaches out to take Akira's hand.]

Hopefully there is a rest of it.

[hoisting Yoshi to his feet]

Unless the rest of the world disappeared on me while I wasn’t looking.

[Bless. He is at least back on his feet, if still holding onto Akira's hand for support.]

I checked out the numbers... and some of them look like they're... repeating?

[Doin a bit of a concern about that.]

I think this is... the right way, though...

[Akira's fingers slip from Yoshi's, but only so he can turn around and couch close to the ground, thumb jerking towards his back. CLIMB ABOARD, NEW BUDDY]

. . . numbers?

[Akira can roll with most things, but that stuff about repeating numbers requires an inquiry]

[Woo, piggyback time! Yoshi climbs onto his back with relief.]

Yeah. I can see the world as numbers, but I noticed when we first got here that the numbers for the starting area kept repeating.

I've never seen that before, but... I don't think it's good to find out what it means, either.

[hooks his arms around Yoshi's legs to keep him secure. watch out for the shoulder bag, though]

What does the world as numbers look like?

It's like looking at a stat window in a video game. There's all kinds of information there - but if you want to understand it, you have to convert it to something you can get.

Just by looking at them, I can tell you're 175cm.

[purrtagonist]

[there's. a significant pause as Akira realizes exactly how creepy and weird that is??? but he takes a step forward, feet sinking into the snow]

Creepy, but cool. Kind of?

What else can you tell about me?

[Immediately.]

[He says these things so casually...]

Can I opt out of the thoughts and feelings one?

[unsettling]

Okay! If you don't want me to read it, I won't.

[Well that was easy.]

[. . . that was easy. almost suspiciously easy]

[well, for now? Akira will take that at face value]

[Get ready for the whole spiel, Akira.]

I'm Nanase Yoshi! Everybody calls me Trash, Pest, Maggot, Spineless, Dust, Plankton, Moron and all sorts of other things, so call me whatever name you like!

[He sounds like he's said this before.

He also sounds just as chipper as usual.]

Hooooow about Yoshi-kun?

[since Yoshi seems way younger than him]

[a pause, and Akira adds]

The people who call you Trash and so on are jerks.

[justonezero]

If that's what you want to call me!

[It's fine by him!]

Hm? That was everyone at school, though.

[Just. Everyone. Everyone called him those.]

[purrtagonist]

Everyone at school is a jerk.

[and he's standing firm in that opinion]

Why would they call you names?

[justonezero]

Well... because I'm a garbage kind of person?

[Seems obvious.]

I don't really mind or anything. If it makes other people happy, it makes me happy too!

[purrtagonist]

[. . . buddy]

Wanting to make other people happy is fine, but you should think about your own happiness, too.

[justonezero]

But I told you, it makes me happy when others are.

[So it's fine!]

If you tell me to buy you bread, I'll buy you bread. If you tell me not to read your thoughts, I won't read them!

What if someone told you to jump off of a bridge?

I only have one life, so I'll be more careful with that, but... if jumping off a bridge could save someone else's life, I don't mind giving up mine.
