INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

What if someone told you to jump off of a bridge?

I only have one life, so I'll be more careful with that, but... if jumping off a bridge could save someone else's life, I don't mind giving up mine.

Well, I'm already pretty much a drain on society.

There's my parents... and my cousin Mikado. He's the one I live with.

But as for friends- nope! I had a few when I was in school, but before I knew it they all removed me.

[Oops.]

Just existing means you have purpose and meaning. Especially to your family.

[this is too deep a conversation for someone he just met, b u t]

What do you mean they removed you?

[No real response to the first part. But...]

On Mutter. It's an app I made to contact my parents and Mikado, but somehow everyone else started using it too?

[For some reason.]

Anyway, you can add people as friends, but they removed me from their lists.

. . . why?

[JERKS!! JERKS HE SAYS!!]

I'm not sure! That's usually how it goes though. At first, people say I'm cheery, sociable, decently good-looking! A little strange, but easy to get on with!

But after a week or so, they think I'm weird and creepy.

[Shocking.]

[he totally doesn't get it. and he barely knows Yoshi, so he can't really. . . say encouraging things to him. it's not like Akira is the type to spout out useless platitudes, anyway]

[so. he does the next best thing]

I'll be your friend.

[Akira will feel him tense in his surprise.]

--Eh?

I said I’d be your friend.

[he repeats simply, no further explanation given]

[Oh.]

[...Oh.

Akira might feel Yoshi's head suddenly rest on his shoulder. It feels like he's shaking, and a little damp like... tears?

Except there's also the very soft, muffled sound of a laugh.

Wow. How long has it been...?]

[oh. . .]

. . . Yoshi-kun?

[When he raises his head again, the smile can be heard in his voice, even if it's still a little shaky.]

Sorry... It's been a long time.

[It's funny, the way his heart seems to feel so tight. It's not something he typically experiences, not ever. It's so easy to coast day by day, so carefree it could - and was - considered disgusting, but...

Why does it hurt a little now...?]

Um... I'm not dreaming this, right? This is real, right?

[It's been an incredibly inexplicable day. He'd thought it could easily be a dream at first, but just like that, he's so desperate to make sure it isn't.]

Mmm. It's pretty real, unless we're both dreaming.

[however unlikely that is. Akira shifts his grip on Yoshi slightly, to prevent him from slipping down his back as they walk]

I won't discount that possibility. But. . . I do doubt it.

Good. I'm glad.

[For the first time in four months, he's got a friend again. It just took being kidnapped away to some snowy path who-knows-where to do it.]

Thanks, um... Is Akira okay, or should it be Kurusu?

[Now he just needs to make sure not to mess up!]

[do not attempt to use kidnapping to gain more friendships, Yoshi]

I prefer Akira. Formalities are a little too stiff for me.

[Don't worry he doesn't have nearly enough power to pull that off yet.]

[He holds on a little bit tighter, but not enough to cause concern of choking or anything.]

[He seriously isn't sure what to do as friends, though.]

It's probably because I'm a good for nothing shut-in who hasn't seen the outdoors for four months, but...

I guess I'm not sure what to do when you're friends anymore?
