Intro log: Welcome to The Resort!

INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.



((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

Ah-- hey!

[t-trotting over towards the downed Minato, standing over his prone form and looking down at him a little sheepishly]

Was that a critical hit? Are you okay?

[messianic]

Yeah... [Slowly, he sits up.]

I'll be better if there's something warm in that, though.

[immediately, without missing a beat]

It's ice cream.

[purrtagonist]

Kidding.

[oh thank god]

It's coffee. It should still be warm, too.

[it's like a week old]

[messianic]

[Slowly, he looks at the thermos, and then back to Akira, and then he twists it open and takes a sip.

....

....

........]

It's good. [He sounds... mostly just grateful.] Thank you.

[purrtagonist]

[his mouth twitches, the faint hint of a smile appearing on his features, before he lifts a hand and adjusts his cat-eared cap over his head]

Secret blend.

[and then he presses a finger against his lips]

Don't mention it.

[messianic]

[Mm, well... he gratefully takes another sip, before he screws back on the cap and brushes snow off of himself.]

You should have some too... it's cold out here.

[purrtagonist]

[tweaks one of his cap’s fluffy cat ears]

I’m running on a full tank, don’t worry. That’s yours for the next time you need a refill.

[he’s fine!! bundled up as he is, he isn’t cold at all. enjoy his coffee, Minato]

[messianic]

[... Huh.]

Thank you again, then.

[Minato shakes his head a little, and shoves his hands back into his pockets.

With the thermos.

It's sticking out of his pocket now.]

You were a lot more prepared than me.

[purrtagonist]

[. . . well, at least he's keeping it!!]

Coincidentally, trust me. Who goes out without at least one thermos of coffee tucked into their bag?

[mmmost people, but he's not here to judge.]

... How many thermoses of coffee do you have in your bag, exactly...?

Eight.

[that's such a weirdly specific number]

[It is, but he's just as weirdly okat with it.]

Huh, really? You're even more prepared than I thought...or you just really love coffee.

[purrtagonist]

I'm a coffee lover who bleeds caffeine when you cut him open.

[yeah sure, he'll go with that one, rather than, "I keep a thermos of coffee for each member of my team just in case we run out of SP in the Metaverse."]

. . . I don't recommend testing that, though.

[messianic]

... I'm good with taking your word for it. Anyone who gives coffee to people who are freezing is pretty reliable.

[purrtagonist]

Oh. Thanks.

[he seems amused]

Glad you're inclined to trust the coffee-toting guy you met in the snowy forest.

[messianic]

...Is that weird...?

[Minato shrugs.]

I do trust you. You haven't given me any reasons not to.

[purrtagonist]

[. . . blinks slowly a few times, because while it's true Akira has been passing out coffee to warm people up, he wouldn't say he trusts anyone. even if they are like him, and without any memories on how they got here in the first place]

That's. . . a unique perspective.

[messianic]

... So it is weird then.

[Minato sounds vaguely amused at that.]

That's okay. Everyone has a different view on things like this because of their own circumstances. That's how life is.

[purrtagonist]

[hhhhha. Akira's mouth twitches, expression turning wry]

That's true, I guess. It's just. . . I wouldn't think "being randomly kidnapped and dumped into a snowy forest" would be a situation in which someone could trust so easily.

[trotting up next to Minato, btw, and continuing forward. so they're walking side-by-side]

[messianic]

... You might have a point.

[He shrugs a little at that, humming.]

But it's how I feel anyway. The being kidnapped thing is a work in progress.

[purrtagonist]

[WORK IN PROGRESS. . .]

Which part? The processing of said kidnapping, or the figuring out a way to escape and go home?

[escape from what, though. they're in a forest]

[messianic]

Hm...

[Neither, really...]

Finding a way to get everyone home, yeah. That's priority number one.

[purrtagonist]

[. . . same hat, though]

Mmm.

[a quiet nod, and his expression sobers significantly. he has no idea why the fuck they're here, or now they got here, or what's going on, but. . .]

That's my priority number one, too.

[he wants to make sure everyone makes it home safe and sound, no matter what they find out]

[messianic]

... Yeah. It's important, so...

[Of course that's what they're both focused on. He really doubts there's much waiting for him back home but the Seal, but...

All of these people, they act like people with lives to get back to. That's important.]

We'll find a way. Let's do our best, okay...
