INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

[. . . blinks slowly a few times, because while it's true Akira has been passing out coffee to warm people up, he wouldn't say he trusts anyone. even if they are like him, and without any memories on how they got here in the first place]

[Minato sounds vaguely amused at that.]

That's okay. Everyone has a different view on things like this because of their own circumstances. That's how life is.

[hhhhha. Akira's mouth twitches, expression turning wry]

That's true, I guess. It's just. . . I wouldn't think "being randomly kidnapped and dumped into a snowy forest" would be a situation in which someone could trust so easily.

[trotting up next to Minato, btw, and continuing forward. so they're walking side-by-side]

... You might have a point.

[He shrugs a little at that, humming.]

But it's how I feel anyway. The being kidnapped thing is a work in progress.

[WORK IN PROGRESS. . .]

Which part? The processing of said kidnapping, or the figuring out a way to escape and go home?

[escape from what, though. they're in a forest]

Hm...

[Neither, really...]

Finding a way to get everyone home, yeah. That's priority number one.

[. . . same hat, though]

Mmm.

[a quiet nod, and his expression sobers significantly. he has no idea why the fuck they're here, or now they got here, or what's going on, but. . .]

That's my priority number one, too.

[he wants to make sure everyone makes it home safe and sound, no matter what they find out]

... Yeah. It's important, so...

[Of course that's what they're both focused on. He really doubts there's much waiting for him back home but the Seal, but...

All of these people, they act like people with lives to get back to. That's important.]

We'll find a way. Let's do our best, okay...

... Cat-ears-san?

[. . . a hum]

I like the way that sounds.

Thermos-sticking-out-of-pocket-san?

[Tiny frown.]

You can't name me based off of something you gave me... There's no solid identity to that.

[Sure, that's his issue.]

... Anyway, it's Minato. Minato Arisato.

[huffs a laugh, holding up both hands with his palms facing forward]

Akira. Kurusu Akira. But just Akira is fine.

Mm, okay. Just Minato is fine for me too. It's nice to meet you, Akira.

[He is not picky.

Anyway...!]

I guess we should start exploring now that we've had our pit stop.

[mmm. glancing at the path ahead of them now, frowning]

If you can call it exploring and not just walking and hoping that we run into something useful.

[Well...]

It can be both, can't it...? I don't think those are mutually exclusive.

One of them makes me feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.

[Minato blinks a little blankly at that...and then tilts his head, expression contemplative.]

We are accomplishing something.

It's true that we may not be finding a way out as quickly as we'd like...or that we're wandering along a path that's already picked out for us.

[Because he suspects that's a thing they're doing.]

But we're still meeting each other, and coming to understand each other, and growing in that way too. There's a lot we can accomplish together. That's not something that can be predicted, you know...? So... whoever our kidnappers are, I think they're underestimating all of us a bit.

[. . . huh. that's actually. . . pretty deep. Akira blinks at Minato in surprise as they walk, because he certainly hadn't been expecting that]

You're. . .

[huuuuh]

Pretty optimistic. Or so it seems.

[Hm. Well. His lips curve faintly into a smile, and he shrugs a little.]

Maybe a little. Is that a bad thing?

[. . .]

[a thoughtful hum, head tilted back]

No. Not really.

[And, peacefully:]

That's good to hear, then.

[He wasn't going to change anyway!!]

[and he shouldn't!1]

I don't feel like most people would remain so calm and optimistic during a kidnapping situation. Especially when we were dumped in the middle of a dark and spooky forest.

[says the guy who stayed calm enough to hand out coffee in thermoses]

[... Honestly, the answer is just that he's not most people, but...

He's definitely more interested in focusing on Akira.]

I've noticed a distinct lack of panic from you too, you know. You seem very...aware of the situation, but you're still very calm and focused.

[So it's not that Akira's not taking it seriously--he is, and yet he's still calm. That's impressive.]

[the truth here is, of course, that Akira is way too used to weird situations to let them faze him anymore]
