INTRO LOG

Before you even open your eyes, you can tell something is not right. It's cold. Not quite unbearably so, but cold enough that you can take notice of it. And as soon as you open your eyes, you will be able to see why it's so cold: you're in the middle of a snowy forest, with only a single two-lane road cutting through the thick trees.

Unfortunately, you seem to be without transportation. Fortunately, you are wearing warm clothes and snow gear, so freezing isn't an immediate problem. But without transportation, you're in for a long walk ahead of you.

There are others around as well. Other people, just as lost and confused as you are. Everyone seems to be lacking any memory that might explain why everyone is here. As far as anyone knows, all of you were just ripped out of your previous lives and dumped here on this snowy road, wearing snow gear and having any items that are important to you already on hand. And for some of you, you even have a new power, one that you somehow instantly know how to use...

Two ways to go: forward and back. Despite having no indication of which way is the 'right' way, you feel drawn towards one direction in particular. Going 'back' is possible, but you get the feeling that you will be even more lost if you try. And given that you have no food or water on you, it's best to keep moving forward.

So, are you ready to walk? Because you have a long road ahead of you.

((Welcome to The Resort! Your characters will have any objects or animals with them that they should have given their canon point, but are dressed in cold weather clothing.

This prompt is just the first part of the intro log. New top-levels will go up over the course of the weekend as everyone progresses from 'where the hell am I?' to the resort proper, and to getting settled in. For now, just start with this prompt. We'll link further updates here for easy access.))

What are you blathering about? [ He expects to never understand anything Owain says. What he doesn't expect to is to not understand and also be faced with a mini-Minerva and suddenly be in a snowfield. ]

Gerome! You're here as well!

[ he's running up to his dear bosom buddy when he catches sight of the mini-wyvern ]

Is... that Minerva? Did she shrink too?

[ Dear bosom what. Stop your narrative delusions this instant. ]

She did. [ He grimaces, deeply pained by this. This is exactly the reaction this level of treachery deserves. ] No doubt it's the work of a hex, one I'm incapable of breaking on my own. [ Curse his lack of affinity with magic. He does, however, look at Owain somewhat expectantly.

Or at least as expectantly as a man in a mask can look at someone when they don't really know what to think of the person they're looking at. ]

[ no we're bosom buddies now and forever ]

Cynthia's Deidre was also shrunk. Whoever summoned us probably is responsible for this as well.

[ he notices that look and actually embarrassingly rubs the back of his head ]

Unfortunately, I... never paid attention to mother's lessons. Father and his blade was more enticing than mother and her staves.

[ but what about minervykins? ]

... It's possible.

[ moving on though, he notices that embarrassed rub and... kind of gets uncomfortable. he didn't mean to make owain feel bad? or embarrassed or whatever. look, he may have been hoping for help but— ]

Fortunate, then, that I wasn't asking for your aid. There's no need for you to regret prioritizing the blade over another of your talents.

[ she can come too ]

Most likely probable.

[ he looks at gerome and gives him a small smile. ]

I would never regret prioritizing the blade. But-- perhaps learning the mystic arts would not have been so terrible.

[ frowning deeply at that smile. ]

I suppose not.

But it won't do us any good to ponder this mystery out in the open. We need to find some sort of shelter.

We may need someone to scout ahead for signs of a town. Minerva may not be able to take flight with a rider, but I can still move ahead on my own.

That would be useful. You do have good eyes from spending so much time flying on her.

... No. What I have are honed instincts and senses. I will not have trouble picking up a trail, but my vision is the sense you should be praising the least.

All your senses work together, Gerome! Now, more than ever, you should still rely on your eyes to see what might lie ahead of us!

I will not take off my mask. [ yes, his mask is the problem here. it impairs his vision, you wanna fight about it? ]

--Seriously? That's what you're hung up about?!

That mask isn't even keeping you warm! It exposes your ears!

It warms my face!

You lose most of the heat through your ears, you know.

I know that! [ you??? you. ] Regardless, the mask stays!

If you're scouting ahead, it's not like anybody's going to see your face.

From what I can tell, Cynthia and I are the only ones here who know what you look like.

And it will remain that way.
