EXECUTION

Just like before, you all get up in the morning...but you know that after today, there will be less of you.

The Lady appears again, leading you all up the stairs to the third floor, just like before. You arrive at the chapel - where a screen near the altar is already playing a video, the sound of the most beautiful instrument in the world washing over you all as you take a seat in the pews.

The Lady puts down some tarp near the altar, as if expecting this to get messy. When she's finished, she sets her gaze on all of you, her beautiful face somehow awful during this moment before someone dies.

"Good morning. Shall we begin this execution?"

[HAS NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON HERE]

[. . . but he blinks blearily at Phil, tilts is chin up, and nods. then he turns to the Lady]

I choose the vial.

[justfists]

[something's wrong, and suddenly Makoto's eyes widen.]

You can't do that!

[she whirls to face the Lady-- and. slightly stumbles.]

Fucking ghosts...

You can't change the rules again!

[She just looks at Makoto as she hands the vial over to Akira.]

The Executed have no say in this, Barghest. Be quiet and take your verdict.

[she growls, almost animalistic in tone-- which is fine because that shape of the wolf hovering over her, the claws and fangs forming... She won't stand for it.]

I will have my say in this.

[it's at that point that Makoto backs towards the execution methods, and grabs a knife-- she's going to act fast.]

[Akira's fingers curl around the vial, before he whirls to face the Barghest, a clever line dancing on the tip of his tongue--]

[except then she backs away and grabs a knife and nope nope n o p e]

-- don't you fucking dare!

[and he bolts, darting across the stage with every ounce of that legendary phantom thief speed, and slams into the Barghest to tackle her to the ground, hand immediately shooting out to grab her wrists and pin her knife hand to the floor]

[ The ghost dog was immuned to fire and cold doesn't have an effect. So let's go with thunder.

Cinque will cast a low level thunder spell to aim at Barghest. Pew pew ]

[ How about if Roxas casts a temporary Sleep spell her way? ]

[ Owain is rushing in, moving as fast as he can and he's going to help Akira with pinning down the Makoghest ]

[He immediately leaps from his seat, thinking - Akira got her, but for how long? The Iron Maiden might be the Barghest's next target for quick and fast so he starts to physically lift it off the ground, grunting from the strain as he held it right over his head to keep it away.

The thing hits his head, he stumbles but keeps it up, knees shaking]

Ugh! Quick throw everything in here and I'll toss!

[She’s summoned her D-board in a flash and swept to the front of the room, eyes quickly scanning over what’s happening and whip materializing in her hands. She’s just going to go for the whatever’s closest to the Barghest, slinging it with some care into the Iron Maiden I guess.

Not going to try and deal with the Barghest. Anyone want to join in on grabbing items?]

[ Yeah, Kohaku's jumping down from the spectator seats to toss whatever is grab-able into the Iron Maiden as well before decisively kicking it shut and placing himself in front of it.

No stabbing yourself on this one, Barghest. ]

[He grunts as whatever possible lethal items were thrown in, giving the hefty implement a mighty heave, and throwing it off the stage and away from the audience]

Nggh eyah!

[And immediately falls to his knees after it, clutching his head where he banged the Iron Maiden]

Owoowowowow....

[dolleyed]

[ Okay, that's distracting, he's just gonna.... offer a hand to pig-boy? ]

Don't execute yourself, dumbass.

[I can't believe there's actually a use for this but he pulls out his ARCUS and casts a Chrono Down art aimed for Makoto, trying to slow her down.]

[that was fast-- everything is so fast. But the Barghest is not Makoto. The Barghest does not get pinned down so easily. Makoto's arm moves up, like Akira's and Owain's weight means nothing.

But when she gets hit with the lightning, she screams, her voice going two toned for one, brief moment.

It's the slowed effect from Rean, and the Sleep that really slows her down.

But in the process of that, she's thrown everyone off... The knife still in her hand as she slowly, but surely, catches her breath and moves the knife.]

I... Will... noT... GO... DOWN.

[The music changes to this in the background.]

Are we seriously switching to battle music right now?!

[Akira throws his weight against the Barghest as much as he can, to keep her pinned when the lightning spell momentarily stuns her. he cries out, voice firm and authoritative]

OWAIN! The knife!

[because he's currently snapping the lid off of the vial, grabbing the Barghest's chin, and attempting to pour the contents into her mouth and down her throat]

[ Owain's struggling to get up from where he's been thrown off when he hears that scream. He can recognize the attack, the damage and his face hardens. ]

Where's my sword?!

[ DID HE EVER GET IT BACK?

But then he hears Akira yell and things take more priority so he forgets that and jumps, trying to use his body as cover for the knife. ]

[justfists]

[Time feels like it stops for a moment when the contents of the vial go down her throat. Her eyes widen, and flicker color-- white, versus their normal red. And all at once her hands go to her head.]

Let me go, let me go let me go

[she’s whispering to herself, and black? Smoke seems to rise from her skin, escape from her mouth, her eyes, the bandage on her face. ]

No, no, no, no it can’t end like this I can’t—

[and then the smoke redoubles around her, grabbing and slicing at her body, like a feral animal that knows something. She screams--]

LET ME GO

[the grip of the smoke tightens, and locks her arms closely to her body, like she’s trapped in a vise. The shape of the Barghest forms around her, its claws digging into her skin. Now that it’s separate from her, it’s easy for at least Akira to recognize the voice it took on.

Sae’s.]

We can’t go down this way, we must win aT ALL COSTS

[ah. . . . . . so. that's what it is. if it's Sae's voice he's hearing, then. . . he can't even begin to imagine what kind of hellish week Makoto has suffered ever since the Barghest took over her body]

[there's another cry of her name, a move driven by desperation, and-- you know what? he promised he'd stop being stupid, and that's a promise he intends to keep, but. . . with his phantom thief writhing on the ground, a creature or pure black smoke digging into her, trying to reclaim her body as its own again, he can't hold himself back]

[Akira bolts forward, right through the smoke, to wrap his arms around Makoto as tightly as he can]

Not again-- not again.

[his grip is tight and if he gets hit by a claw or too, well! oops]

I won't let it take you again, okay? I promise.

[ After the Levin Sword has been yeeted to him, Owain is still quick to move, in spite of the blood starting to slowly bloom at his front (did you know jumping on a knife is not the smartest move guys?). He jumps a small distance away and brandishes the sword, proudly. ]

You failed in your attempt to sully my good name, Barghest. You tried to take me from my friends, family, and the one I love. This cannot stand. The very weapon you used to try to frame me will be your undoing you vile spirit. I will send you back to the plane of existence you belong! Fear the power of my LEVIN SWORD. Owain Dark's special attack--

[ and then AS A FUCKING PROPER DEMONSTRATION OF HOW THE LEVIN SWORD IS USED, Owain just simply holds the sword upright in front of him. As those who saw him on the ski slopes will see once more, lightning seems to come down from the air and strike the Barghest not once, but six times in quick succession, because what better time than now is there for Owain to pull a double attack AND for Astra to activate? ]
