Week 3: Sleepover with Karaoke!

[The weekend is ever-creeping towards them, which means it's time for another gathering -- this time in the newly-accessible second floor, which comes with some of the amenities of the first but better. The soft room is pretty much ideal for this sort of thing, and if there are any windows someone's probably hung a blanket against the void.

Extra kotatsu from long-ago sleepovers have been brought up, there are snacks and drinks scattered amongst the endless blanket nests and pillow forts, and karaoke and the animal cafe are just next door. They can choose to head out for those attractions or bring in the pet animals of the cafe if they'd like. Anything is possible if you believe.]

[Have an inquiring eyebrow raise. Up to him if he wants to elaborate, though.]

[He glances over with a small smile.]

Well... let's just say that it's a consequence of the political issues around the country.

[latebluemer]

... A political prisoner?

[She's not sure how else to interpret this!]

Haha. It's not quite that bad.

Each of the provinces' ruling lords have their own soldiers independent of the Imperial Army, and the authority to go along with it. I guess you could say we ended up getting caught on the wrong side of some factional disputes between the Nobles and the Reformists.

[To say the least.]

[latebluemer]

[Yeah, that sounds complicated enough to be politics, all right.]

I guess it really is easy to be on the wrong side of the law if there's so many different lawmakers.

[She's much more used to a stable government.]

That's definitely one way to put it. I won't deny part of it was because we stuck our noses into things, but there were a lot of shady dealings going on underneath the surface, too, and we couldn't exactly just look away when they were happening before our eyes.

... Yeah. I kind of get what you mean. And I guess you guys came out of it all right?

[Hopefully? She's starting to get that that's not a guarantee around here, which she really should have known in the first place.]

Yeah, although not without a lot of assistance. There's still some problems we have to deal with, but... we're hanging in there.

I get the feeling most of us were in the middle of something important when we ended up here... Or, last we remember, anyway.

[She's not sure anymore, actually, how much time must have passed with all the dream-memories and the knowledge of maybe joining this shady Foundation and everything...]

[If she's saying it like that...]

Are you counting yourself among that number?

Hmm. Maybe.

[She's not sure if her part in everything back home is over or if it matters at this point. A thoughtful pause.]

We don't know how long we've been with the Foundation, do we? And if we keep getting more memories, the time just keeps getting longer.

[It's a bit of an ambiguous response, and as a result he's not sure if she just doesn't want to talk about it or if it's for some other reason.]

Yeah... And if we've been on previous missions, that's probably an indication that we've been part of them for a while now. Maybe a year or even more.
