[CONTINUE + 4] week 1 || act: indict

[Saturday dawns, bright and early again. No one comes to the Inn, but you feel compelled to go to the Core anyway.

It's as if you're forced to. As if....it's inescapable. Puppets, forced to dance where their strings lead.

You make the walk past everything, until you are directly in the Core, where some kind of whitish, rainbow-gleaming liquid can be seen below.

In this area, you are led to a wider platform that is still open to the liquid before, with the handrails in place - where there are some seats around, and....surrounded by a sea of entirely gray faces, no Monsters to be seen.

This...for all of you, it is a familiar sight.

It is a trial location.

You are here to find the killer...and convict one of your own, in a murder that makes no sense.

But you have no choice.

You can only forge ahead....and try to find out the truth.]

VICTIM: ATSUSHI NAKAJIMA
ACT: VOTE

[Are we going to keep working on the mystery?]

It really wants us to spend a lot of time solving this.

Why are we giving it what it wants?

It says that the win condition is to vote, but why would it be telling us how to win if it wants to destroy us? Either it is contradicting itself, or it's trying to fool us.
homeecspacecop: (72)

[personal profile] homeecspacecop 2020-09-12 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Or it doesn't think it matters.

We're "supposed to" vote, we're "supposed to" solve the murder.

The question is still, why, though. Why does it think we need to vote? Why does it think we're supposed to solve the murder?

The answers it gives are always contradicting-- is it just for entertainment, like a witch's game? That doesn't seem right.

I don't know. Maybe it's the... plot of the novel, or the outline, or something. But I do know it wants us to do this, and I'm tired of giving it what it wants.

They do outnumber us a little...

So?

We're always outnumbered, or outclassed, or in a position where we "can't win".
cw_suicide: (254)

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2020-09-12 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It won't say the consequences for not voting. It could be as simple as "you die", but if that was the case, why rewind time at all so none of us are dead?

So it has to be some other consequence.

Either not voting breaks the game completely, or it doesn't. If it does, then this whole thing might be over. If it doesn't, then it'll just rewind time again and make us solve another murder next week, and we'll vote then because there's no reason not to.

I'm personally more concerned with the potential of people getting erased because we're not careful. Drew-kun already knows what happened when we made a big move without considered that, doesn't he?
homeecspacecop: (+40)

[personal profile] homeecspacecop 2020-09-12 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Drew knows. Drew doesn't want to do that again.]

But it still reset. It still had us do this again.

We've been careful this whole time and it hasn't gotten us any closer to a solution!

[personal profile] cw_suicide 2020-09-12 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you know that?

Look around you--this thing is showing itself. Directly. It hasn't done that before!

Ask "why". Is it because there aren't enough monsters to fill in the roles? Is it because it wants to force us to play ours? Or is it that something we've done is forcing it to show itself? Just because we don't have the answers doesn't mean we haven't gotten closer to the solution. Use your head a little!

Didn't we not vote last time? I think we need to figure another ploy out...

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-12 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
... I don't really want to solve it, either.

But it's scary to think of what it might potentially do if we don't at least vote.

[personal profile] finalring 2020-09-12 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Red had mentioned that we were on the right direction last week. So perhaps we do need to vote, but vote for someone that is not able to be a culprit.

It's still technically following the script, up to a point.

I still think what we discussed is valid.

I'm not going to vote, and we really don't think we should all keep looking for the murderer.

We want to identify the last person it took over just in case it takes them over again or tries to grab them anyways.

[personal profile] homeecspacecop 2020-09-12 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
But why? It can take over whoever it wants, so why do we care who it took over last?

It seems to like throwing someone over into the core. If we know who it might want, we can take steps to help prevent it.
homeecspacecop: (+23)

[personal profile] homeecspacecop 2020-09-12 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
If it really wants someone, it's probably following the pattern, and that means it's me. It's Drew. It's us.

We didn't get murdered, so that's the only other option, since Drew's the only color it hasn't killed yet.

There's a change in the circumstances of the investigation and trial - I'm interested in finding that 'why'.

Hmph, ridiculous. We don't plan on doing so in the end, so it hardly matters if we 'seem' to follow things as it were, at first.
