[CONTINUE + 4] Week 1 || Act: mingle

Monday comes onto the snowy town once more, though it still looks as if it's 'night' as ever.

Then again, you are underground. That's just to be expected, considering no natural light can get down here in the first place. The Monsters around you are just as friendly as ever, though now there's far, far less of them.

Is time running out for the mission? How many more loops do you have?

...You feel as if something is watching you when you're not looking.

I'll take half baked over raw dough any day, Boss.

It might have something to do with how that thing calls us. 'Puppets'. Perhaps we are just pieces to it, put on a game board and made to dance to our puppet-master's entertainment.

Puppets, not players.

Then who is it playing against? It really is kinda like a Witch game if you look at it that way.
finalring: (romani84_len)

[personal profile] finalring 2020-09-10 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Maybe it's not playing against anyone in the first place.

Or maybe it is? You did say that it had said something about your "narration", so that means that someone or something is narrating for you.

[personal profile] le_mat 2020-09-10 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
My original thought was that it was something subconscious- like reading my thoughts.

But if it's NOT then "narration" indicates a "writer".

And if there is a "my" narration instead of "the" narration then it wasn't talking about A Writer, like you would maybe consider God or Fate.

But a "Writer for Ren". And Boss.. what's the saying? "That way lies madness"

A bit like a round-robin story...

Or Dungeons & Dragons.

... D&D, huh.

Can't imagine the amount of times I've probably critfailed or near critfailed if it's like that.

I think we all failed a spot check in the first trial of the witch's game.

Each "game" seems to work a little differently. Maybe we just weren't used to the "mechanics" yet.

Or... the "players" weren't.

[just nudging in here for a second]

"Narration" is a pretty specific word, isn't it?

If it was just talking about subconscious, 'thoughts' would be the usual word for it, right? Like most things that deal with reading minds... they don't really bring up the word 'narrative', I'm fairly certain.
improbablenotimpossible: (A smoke break)

[personal profile] improbablenotimpossible 2020-09-10 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
As if they're reading it, instead of 'hearing' or 'sensing' it.

And I remember there was a closed bold tag at the end of the first line - during that third trial - and what seems to have been a... link, maybe?

So it has to be something over the internet, I think.

And the words that were spoken were "I see you", specifically. Twice.

Yes, that I noticed - so an online text-heavy game?
dereban: (pic#14189964)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-10 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably?

... But shit, if they had games like that, they could have at least let me play one.

...if it's over the Internet, that would explain some things.

... Yeah.

But you also know what that means, right?

When the skeletons use their fonts, they probably really are speaking in fonts?

[That's... probably not what Inaba means, but it popped into her head!]
dereban: (pic#14189977)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-10 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, but also the internet is forever.

That means that so many people could potentially be watching all of our conversations during all of these 'games'.
oceanicbutterfly: ([k] Bad guys!)

Not if we find out what server it's on and delete it.
dereban: (pic#14190025)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-10 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
...Please don't do that unless we know for certain that all of us won't die in the process.
oceanicbutterfly: ([k] Headache argh)

[personal profile] oceanicbutterfly 2020-09-10 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

Honestly, it seems like the server might be inherently inaccessible to us anyway.
dereban: (pic#14189983)

[personal profile] dereban 2020-09-10 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
... yeah.

But I think that's fine.

It does seem to rule out some easy solutions, though. We could just access the text and write something like "and then the group from the Foundation won."

Mm, I do imagine that it may be something like that. Someone who is controlling what we say or do...

[ he taps his chin, thinking about it. ]

If that is the case, then it would be something similar to how a Witch operates...they want the most exciting story they can get, but one that is fulfilling in the end.

But we should be able to revolt against that. There must be a way.

It wouldn't be that weird, would it? I mean... I already read my entire manga, and watched the anime. So even if we're all real, there's a real person in this world who wrote about all our lives.

So... maybe this world is fiction too?
