Week 2 Slumber Party Mingle

[ Clearly what everyone needs after that execution is a way to make sure that nobody has to be alone if they don't want to, which clearly means... Yes, it's time for another slumber party. Once again the lobby is taken over with permission from the staff, and bedding of various types is dragged out.

There is also an alarming amount of plush toys. There they all are, just... staring.

There's still room for hot chocolate and snacks, though.

[ That's pretty much what's going to happen. At least they have front row seats to a very captivating and funny show of sorts. ]

Yeah, I think once I do know someone more, a lot of things add to it than if I didn't.

[ Like for example, if someone rudely smushed a cupcake against his nose.

...Which didn't happen, but if it did... ]

[This is almost better than that movie theater that's going to mysteriously appear in the future and that I'm foreshadowing because I can.]

It's funny, right? We got all those profiles at the very start, but I feel like I've learned a lot about people without even looking at them all that much.

[Sometimes she does have to refer to them, but at the same time it somehow feels easier just to deal with people directly here. It's a strange feeling for her. Usually, she deals a lot better with a screen or an entire network in between. There are absolutely reasons it's so much smoother here, but...

It's kind of nice.]

[ We do what we want in this roleplay. ]

I kind of forget to look at the profiles much, but learning more than what a profile says about someone can be nice.

[ It's not something Roxas does think about a lot, because he just talks with them and learns more about them naturally. But, he does remember she's used to this kind of technology, so he wonders a little. ]

...I don't find it strange either, but did you?

It's a little weird. I didn't want to use the profiles in the first place, but learning about people that way is... actually more normal for me.

[She's not outright going to say that she doesn't talk to many people.

This is maybe the size of her high school class, but she couldn't tell you many details for most of them, or how many of them she's talked to beyond the first social niceties. And there are some reasons for that too, besides her being a low-key recluse (the nicer word for shut-in here).

But really, this may be the biggest number of people she's talked to this much and this consistently for a while. It's something of a realization.]

... It's like transferring to a new class.
13thpromise: (that we’ll surely return to someday)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-11 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?

[ Roxas figures naturally it's because of technological stuff if anything. Maybe they have profiles like that in other worlds and people use them more. ]

I don't know what transferring to a new class is like either. But I think I can still get it - there'd be a lot of people you don't know and it's probably kind of awkward at first.

[In her world, usually, it's a little of column A and a little of column B.

She might have hyperspecialized a bit in column B. Sometimes these things happen!]

... Yeah, something like that. It's pretty awkward, and then the more you learn about each other the worse it gets. [...] It's probably because back home, we all came from the same place. It's different here.

[It's like a fresh start, the first time she put on this avatar and stepped into Link VRAINS as a duelist no different from anyone else. Anonymity is pretty great; she's not sure there's anywhere more anonymous than here, and that's saying something.]

[ It's okay, socializing is Hard.

Even Roxas had a hard time re-adjusting to talking to people...and actually being people again but that is neither here nor there. ]

The worse it gets? [ He sounds a little confused, but it does spark further curiousity. ] What was it like back at your home, anyway? Did you have a lot of friends?

[personal profile] latebluemer 2018-12-12 01:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[It takes her a little while to come up with an answer for that one.]

I had everyone I needed.

[There's something both stubborn and resigned in it. Like something well-worn you tell yourself, enough times it becomes something to live by. There are some people you need to live and then other people exist.

She gives a small shrug.]

I think it was a pretty ordinary city, but with more technology. Most things are run by machine, and we have robots at home to help us do things... [kind of like the staff here, but usually less creepy] What about yours? Was it anything like that?
13thpromise: (Now)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-12 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ...At that, Roxas can't help but look at her carefully, the answer coming as a surprise to him, not because of the words themselves...it was the cadence that brought to attention. He wondered if she was okay with that. ]

Not really anything like that at all.

[ The blond thinks of the places to describe...Twilight Town or The World That Never Was? Well, he thinks he needs to pick just the one - he's trying to decide. Maybe he should start with the one he was in (kind of) and go from there. ]

The last place I was in was kind of in a town? There was an amazing horizon at sunset, and an incredible view from the Clocktower where if you sat with some friends, it can make for a great hang out near the end of the day. It was quiet and a small place - people knew each other there and it felt like a homely place to be.

[ Too bad he only returned to it when it was a digital version, but Roxas had definitely been to the real Twilight Town before. ]

[Her expression is surprisingly hard to read, her eyes downcast, but there's a brief stillness in her usual animation like a cloud passing over the sun. It's there and gone again, and she's listening again, absorbing the descriptions with some curiosity.]

... That sounds really peaceful.

[It sounds so very far away from this place, and so far away from the places she knows, jungles of skyscrapers and neon lights that are easy to get lost in. Sometimes you forget that there are other people in them, at the right hour and the right roads.]

We can usually only really see the sunset from really high up, in a building, or the harbor. I think the harbor is probably closer to what you're talking about. There aren't as many people there, just water and the birds.
13thpromise: (A place of victory)

[personal profile] 13thpromise 2018-12-17 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Roxas is peering over at her expression carefully as she's seeming to absorb what he's saying and he nods at her words. It was one of the most peaceful places he'd ever had the pleasure of being to, and he'd love to go there again.

...Even if none of the people there would actually recognize him. ]

...I'd guess the same, but any place where it's quiet and peaceful with a nice view sounds like it could be nice to me.

[ ... ]

But, if your city had a lot of buildings that were high up...the closest place I've been to that might've been similar would be The World That Never Was.
