Week 0 || ACT: ATTEND
["We will tell you later," they had said. "We need to gather more information." Defer until later, let others investigate.
Truthfully, they had been hoping a solution would materialize on its own. That calling in a team for assistance wouldn't be needed. But time has passed, and the silence has only stretched on longer.
So, when the email comes, telling everyone of an important meeting, it might not be a surprise. After all, this conversation is one that has been a long time coming.
The two who have called the meeting- Solomon and Frisk- have prepared a meeting room for this occasion. It is set up not unlike a lecture hall, with several rows of chairs facing a whiteboard and projector screen. The two O5s are at the front, with Frisk going through one final check to make sure everything is working while Solomon watches. Both will nod to the arrivals, but neither will speak to them.
Once the last few who are coming have found their seats, Solomon will clear his throat to gather everyone's attention.
It is time.]

[A glance to Solomon, and then they hold out their hands in front of them.
a pair of soft glowing lights starts to hover in front of them, taking on what looks vaguely like a heart shape. One of the lights is red, and the other is grey. While they do swirl and mingle together within that heart shape, they are both still distinct from each other. The red light is far stronger and larger than the grey, taking up more of the heart shape.]
Human souls have power that Monsters could only dream of having. A single human soul by itself can do just about anything.
For Monsters to have that kind of power...we have to take a Human's soul. And Humans, they were afraid of that. They thought Monsters would kill them all for their souls and the power that came along with them.
So they attacked us. They hunted us down, drove us to the Underground. All in the name of 'protecting Humans'.

So what are we really supposed to be doing?
[Drew knew you'd get there, Chuuta]
What can we do to help?
no subject
The war between Monsters and Humans is not for you to solve. Thousands of years of bad blood between the species will not be rectified with one mission.
[yes, the word choice there is deliberate.]
For Red and Moriarty to both go silent, and for Solomon to see no future for this world, that means something serious is happening down there. Find Red and Moriarty, and stop whatever is happening down there that erases our future.
Secure. Contain. Protect. That is the mantra of this organization, is it not?

He nods.]
Yeah, that's right. [Secure. Contain. Protect. They've gotten really good at that.]
It's going to be hard enough just saving the future.

[Although the whole 'just about anything' makes her mull things over a little bit because uh.
That is a very worrying connotation?
But also people being afraid is pretty common and she's Tired of it.]
I will say that sure was some mistake, though.

But this isn't some run-of-the-mill mistake that can easily be fixed given how long it's probably been.
Although I will say that this is something that should honestly be dealt with at some point, but not necessarily by us.
[This is not her saying she is unwilling to help on the more complex issues of this matter, this is her saying "you guys need to handle your own messes yourselves but she is willing to help if it necessitates that."]

[ solomon sighs. he opens his mouth to speak a couple times, but ultimately decides against it each time but the last. ]
Due to that fear, the Humans were calling for the extinction of all Monsters. It was...a very tragic time. However, O5-1 did not wish for them to disappear, so I came up with...what I believed to be a solution. If Humans could not live with Monsters anymore, then I would create a place for them. I used my magic to carve out Mount Ebott and created a barrier to hide them from the world.
[ ... ]
I don't think I need to explain why it was a bad idea, now do I?

[The extent to which this subject is awkward for Karen is outmatched only by the extent to which it annoys her because of who it reminds her of.]

Well, I suppose I'm in no position to criticize someone for only having a hammer.

I'm game, ze.

[Then the voice shifts back to a more familiar one.]
Take Papyrus on a date.

Sounds like the Former Hell. Buncha outcast youkai that no one wanted to deal with moved underground a while back--satori, a hashihime, a kasha, hell ravens, a tsuchigumo, you name it. Had to go down there to stop one'a the ravens from launchin' a nuke at the surface.
Like I said, home sweet home. If there ain't any nukes involved, even better.
[ .... ]
Uh...what now?
no subject
I meant to, when I was in the Underground. But I got caught up in escaping and never got to take him on one.
no subject
Are we seducing someone as part of the mission?
