After everything, the house seems almost too still and too mundane. At least as long as the doors to that room remain closed. One by one those covered in what was once their teammate are lead to the showers or change in silence. There is no warm meal waiting for them. No words of encouragement.

Life goes on, regardless.

Think about it, Ango. They've lost an entire team already, including a high ranking agent. And from what Gilgamesh has told me, it's likely that their opinion of the 6350s--of us, will drop. That they'll think of us the same as D-class agents.

And besides, the past is the past. It is already recorded fact and cannot be changed. The future, however, has not been decided yet. The 'future' our local king saw is just one of many possibilities.

[ there's another long pause from roman as he looks at his clothes that are in the sink.

he sighs, and he turns back towards ango to give him a melancholic smile. ]

[He sounds genuinely relieved when he says that too.]

[The topic change is surprising, and it makes Ango go 'ah' for a moment before he responds.]

Yes. He works at a detective agency and I work for the government, but we live in the same city. Our paths have crossed several times, due to our respective jobs.

Oh, so he's a detective?! No wonder he was leading that trial. He really has experience with solving mysteries? That's pretty neat, I won't lie.

He does, which is why I trust his judgement. He can be lazy, but he's actually quite smart.

[ he laughs a little. roman's more used to being described like that. ]

I wish that he wouldn't move around so much and aggravate his wound. [ he sighs. ] But I'm guessing he doesn't really care much about himself, huh?

Not one bit. I would have thought the pain would have motivated him to stay still, he hates pain. But here we are.

It goes to show that he's really trying hard to help us. I wish it were easier to thank him.

...praise his efforts. Recognize when he does something kind. Show that you notice when he does a helpful thing. That would be the best way to thank him.

It's just hard for him. 'Doing good' doesn't come naturally to him, he has to choose to do good. So praising him for that effort is important.

Mm, I see. It goes to show that humans aren't static beings. Even if someone is meant to do evil, they can still work against their fate and do good things for the world. That takes a lot of strength, in my opinion.

It certainly does. It's why he's such an admirable person.

[There's still a touch of sadness to his voice when he speaks, though.]

...You really care about him, huh? [ he can tell the sadness in ango's voice, and roman can't help but give him a soft smile in return. ] I don't know much about him, so I apologize if it's rude but...I think that's good. It's good that he has people that care about him.
