RECORDING 3: THE FIRST TRIAL

The worst has happened... and now you're all here, in the living room where you first met Todd. As all of you enter, the Vessel is there - glowering at all of you, still missing the arm Dazai shorn from him with his touch.

On one of the tables away from the center is a small enclosed box entitled 'VOTES', with slips of paper nearby and a pen. It's sufficiently away from what will be the 'main' action, but not enough to really give anyone complete privacy as they vote.

Once everyone is inside, the doors automatically shut and lock themselves, leaving you trapped in here with the Vessel...and each other.

One of you is a murderer...however, in this game, the guilty do not need to be voted out. As long as there are enough people voted out that matches the victims...then it will be accepted.

...But, can you really let someone get away with murder...?

The choice...is up to you.

My initial thought would be "the head".

That would fit with the almost petty way the murderer removed and used Olympia-chan's head.

Headwounds can bleed quite a lot, but not necessarily quickly onto the ground.

He also got into a fist fight with Battler on that night. Be sure to account for that.

Who's to say he didn't start a fight with Battler in preparation? Surely getting some bruising beforehand could disguise any accidents during the murder. Plus, making a big fuss and confessing to the artwork that he won't give details for. Sounds mighty suspicious to me.

I didn't say that wasn't a possibility, but to account for damages that would have been picked up during that fight.

Certainly the lead suspect by virtue of evidence is Sho, but that seems very convenient to me.

Making evidence point to yourself, if done correctly can make you too convenient to believe. It's quite ingenious as a way to camouflage yourself.

If you're planning a murder I imagine you would try to take everything into account. He could have picked a fight with Battler on the chance he did get injured.

Most likely. He's not stupid. Far from that, actually--he's actually pretty smart! Dazai said that it was some sort of high-level chess, and that is one of the most studied games in 'game theory', which is a branch of mathematics.

You can get scrapes, bruises and small cuts from the nails, but something long and straight like the one that's on his palm? Yeah, I don't buy it.

There wasn't any blood inside the gloves, as best Sissel and I could tell, but...

It was sitting in the pipes for a while now, wasn't it? Wouldn't that also be a good reason to get rid of them if you weren't going to wash them?

And I did say "initial thought". That's not always the most accurate one.

Yeah, this one sounds like a dud to me. If someone took a hit to the head, there's no way there wouldn't be more blood.

It's not a bad thought, it's just hard for me to believe that's what happened.
