WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[A small, quiet smile.]

I'll look after him, so you don't have to worry.

[dereban]

I'm gonna worry even if you tell me not to.

[ She says that as a strangely open admission, looking at him with something a little bit serious. ]

[messianic]

... Yeah. Me too.

[And, quietly:]

Because that's what friends do in situations like these.

[dereban]

You still really want to be friends, huh... like I told you before, you really are too kind, Arisato.

[messianic]

Inaba-san, as far as I'm concerned, we already are friends.

[dereban]

. . . geez.

I can't say it's going to be worth it, though.

[messianic]

... That's okay.

You don't have to, because I'm sure of it. There aren't any doubts in my mind that it's been worth it.

[dereban]

[ WHY!!!! ARE YOU LIKE THIS ]

Even if I'm one of the monsters, Arisato? Would you really think it's worth it, then?

[messianic]

[There's a funny, almost wistful little smile on his face... but his tone and expression are sincere when he answers.]

Yes.

It would still be worth it, even then. Because... that wouldn't erase the times I've had with Inaba-san as Inaba-san, either. That's just how I feel.

[dereban]

Why are you guys... man, you really are an idiot, aren't you?

[messianic]

... Yeah, maybe a little.

[He won't deny that.]

I can't really help the way I am, you know?

[dereban]

You were probably like that from the very beginning, so I get it... but I'm the same way, you know?

[messianic]

Yeah... I get it. People are the way they are--and I don't need you to change.

[A shrug.]

I think you're fine like this.

[dereban]

Huh?

[ She seems genuinely surprised. ]

You think so... too? [ It seems this isn't the first time she's been told this. Hm. ]

[messianic]

I do.

[...]

And whoever else thinks so isn't wrong at all, in my unbiased opinion.

[dereban]

Well, I think you're both idiots for thinking that way.

[messianic]

That's okay.

I don't mind being an idiot if it means I get to feel this way.

[dereban]

[ She sighs a little, relaxing a little as she smiles just a little and just pats his head?? ]

I guess you're fine that way, too.

[messianic]

I'll take that as a compliment, I think.

[dereban]

It is one, don't worry.

[...] I guess for now, I can at least try accepting that we're friends.

[ "Try" being the key word here. ]

[He really does light up at that. His expressions are always subtle...but he's smiling brightly nonetheless.

[ She easily picks up on that and finds herself smiling in return, mirroring his own even if it's a little sad. ]
