WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

Some of your...techniques? [Right, a swordsman! But Iwai isn't sure what kind of techniques would help] What do you got?

Well, if you're looking for some heat... I can usually cover my sword in flames. I don't know if it'll be enough to burn through webbing, but maybe it'd weaken it enough to be cut through.

[possibly not the type of sword technique Iwai was thinking of, but. waves hands at the power of anime]

They're spiderwebs. Doubt they're fireproof, monster spider or not.

[He hopes. It'd be ridiculous if they can't be incinerated]

Here's to hoping, anyways. Vanitas said they repelled darkness, which makes it sound like no ordinary web.

[Not that he has all the deets on whatever that darkness was but.]

Are they fluorescent or somethin'?

[That's what comes to mind when it sounds like they repel darkness: a fancy way to say they light up in the dark. He's not aware of darkness as in...well...magic]

Uh... I don't think that's quite what he meant. He said it was magical, so I'm guessing there was more to it than just that. I don't have any other details, though.

Then I dunno anythin'. Magic's nothing I know about. You'd think if there's magic darkness, then someone could do the opposite and see if that'd be better.

[Unlikely, but in times like these you have to try everything in your power. Cut the spiderwebs with light]

I don't have anything like that, unfortunately. They said that water worked though, so if all fails, we can always just douse it with that. I can at least manage that much.

[Honestly, it should be the first thing they try. But it's not like he can't see the merit in determining if other methods work too.]

Monster spiders are weird. Didn't think water would be enough to counter 'em.

[He doesn't even know water is enough to break a normal spider's webs. He's not really knowledgeable about spiders in general]

Yeah, it wouldn't have been my first thought either. It might just be something about this one, though. The ones I've ran into before weren't anything like that at all.

...that something that happens often to you? Seein' spider monsters?

[And possibly fighting them? Iwai almost hopes he misheard something]

Uh... I wouldn't say it happens all the time, but I've definitely seen them more than once. It just comes down to where you are in the country, I guess.

Sounds like a nightmare of a place to live in.

[Any place with abnormally dangerous spiders can't be fun to be at, seriously]

I don't think it's that bad? Honestly, the monsters are really the least of our problems, and they generally stay out of the way as long as you're on the main highways.

They don't try to invade your towns or anythin'?

[That's...much more tame than he expected. It almost makes them sound like normal animals]

No, they're more like... really aggressive wildlife? You shouldn't try to take them on if you don't know how to fight, but most soldiers would have no problem with them, and it's not like the majority would be able to take on a tank or something.
