WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[Tsumugi freezes for a split second before relaxing. She's working on what appears to be a maid outfit. There's a large amount of small, rat sized, costumes and costume parts on another available surface. The only other thing of not is that Tsumugi's hair is splayed out in a few odd places around her workspace.

Oh, except for the edge of a nsfw Archer Dakimakura peeking out from under her bed. That's pretty odd.

Tsumugi bolts from her workspace, past her computer, past the shelves chock full of manga, and past the shelves full far too many figurines and memorabilia to count, to stand in front of the Archer dakimakura to nudge it with the back of her foot under the bed to where the rest of it's kind are hidden. ]

A-aaaaah...! Umm...! I was... sewing a Ciel Phantomhive maid outfit. Yeah.

[.... Yeah he probably saw that. Still. She's not commenting on it if he won't.]

[ The saddest part of this is—if she never bolted for the dakimakura? He never would have noticed it. His mask limits his field of vision pretty substantially so he's not always the best at noticing small details.

For the longest time, he doesn't say anything. He just stands as still as can be in place staring in her direction. He has utterly no idea how to process somebody trying so hard to hide something like this. Or somebody having it in the first place. ]

... I don't know what that is.

[ He means a Ciel Phantomhive maid outfit but, honestly? This is real vague. She can take it to mean either the dakimakura or the outfit. ]

[Rest in peace Tsumugi. She meets his gaze, not budging from her spot.

Oooooh boy. This one... based on his looks, he's from pretty far back. How to explain this... After a few moments thought, Tsumugi starts explaining.]

... It's an replica of a character in a story's outfit. The character is Ciel Phantomhive and the outfit is a maid outfit.

[What dakimakura? There has never been a dakimakura here. We are not acknowledging the dakimakura.]

[ When she explains, he turns his attention to the sewing machine and circles around it curiously. Looks like she made a wise choice!

Sorry, dakimakuras. He doesn't know what you are either but he sure doesn't know if he's ready for a talk about you. ]

I see. Are you making a doll based on the character, then? [ He sounds intrigued by this idea, actually. ]

[Oh thank god. Tsumugi internally releases a sigh of relief and answers his question. She is a-okay with steering this conversation elsewhere.]

I could if I wanted to... but not this time. No, I'm making the things necessary to become that character. To bring the fictional into reality... that's what cosplay is about!

[A pause. She should probably clarify.]

Um... not literally of course. It's more... in a roleplay sense.

So it's the same as Owain's games. [ Role play. Playing. Sounds the same to him. He stops his circling to inspect the various stuff she has laid out. The fabric especially. ] You have a lot of pieces here. How long have you been working on this?

Eh? You know him?

[A casual question. She can't say she's not curious.]

For everything I've done so far.... I've been working since early this morning.

[A gesture to the outfit she was working on. It's about halfway complete.]

This one is the... 3rd one so far though. The first two were far less complex to recreate.

[The skills of an Ultimate Cosplayer are wide and vast.]

... He and I are friends.

[ He. Guesses. He sounds simultaneously unsure of this and uncomfortable with the admission. He very quickly clears his throat and moves onto discussing the outfit.

Sewing, yes. That's a good topic. ]

That's a long time to spend with the needle, even if you are using a machine. How are your eyes faring? Your fingers?

[ Based on this alone, he can see at least some of her skills for himself. She's impressive. ]

Is he the only one of your friends here?

[Because there are some people here who certainly are... armored. Tsumugi flashes a reassuring smile.]

I'm used to it, this is just my plain everyday life.

There's... another of my comrades here. Cynthia. If you've met Owain, you can guess what she's like.

[ Still awkward and unsure despite the reassuring smile. There's no real winning for him here. If he says no, Cynthia will get upset with him. If he says yes, she'll never leave him alone.

Admitting one of them is a friend was hard enough. Now he has to admit they're all friends. His loner image is crumbling. Time for a good distraction: sewing talk. ]

You may be used to it, but that doesn't mean it's easy. [ ... ] If you like, I could give you a hand.

Ah, Cynthia-san! I've been renting manga to her.

[Cynthia is good in Tsumugi's book. There is a visible pause at his offer to assist her in sewing.]

You know how to sew?

It seems we have two friends in common.

[ Cynthia is definitely a good. ]

I do. It's a skill I picked up when I was a child—one I find uses for even now. ... Not the same uses as yours, of course, but I do respect the amount of effort such elaborate designs must take.

Friends... you really think they consider me a friend?

[There's something strange in Tsumugi's voice as she asks that. The idea of being friends with them... it's nice, but would it last?]

Ah, thank you. Well... normally I'd keep working on my own as a point of pride... but I've already cut out most of the outfits for the rats.

[A gesture towards the area with all the rat cosplay outfits on them. There's a good amount of finished ones, but still a large number of unfinished ones.]

If you want to finish them up for me... I can accept an assist for my less serious project.

I do. There are few people in any world those two couldn't befriend.

[ He's the proof of it. He notices the strange note but doesn't know what to make of it. ]

... I'd like to, actually. Er. Help you finish them, I mean. [ Clearing his throat before going to the area she's pointing at. Gonna start carefully picking up one of the finished ones to inspect the pattern, stitching, and so on. ] Truthfully, I'm more than a little curious about all this. Not the dress-up part, but creation.

They're regular shounen protagonists, huh?

[Well then. Tsumugi smiles genuinely at his admission.]

That's the part I'm most interested in too. I prefer to make cosplay more than wear them... but with so many cosplayers only caring about self-promotion these days, I'd rather wear my outfits with love than sell them to those people!

[A pause and then an embarrassed huff as Tsumugi's expression turns sheepish.]

Ahh... sorry. Think about those people... it just makes me plain mad.

I... don't know what that is. What any of that is. [ Grimacing. He doesn't particularly like admitting when he doesn't know something. At least she explained cosplay earlier, not that he remembers what she said about it. ] If nothing else, you seem passionate about the craft, and I'm certain it shows in your work. It's a shame you can't share your creations with others.

[ Gonna just. Glance at her and slip off his mask. He needs a better look at everything here, plus he can't wear it while sewing either. ]
