WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

All I, and my ghostly compatriots, see when we look outside is pure blackness. It's like the world just ends -- it's likely why we can't leave.

[Jeez, that gave her an outright chill down her spine and it wasn't even about the ghost. Of course she knew this resort wasn't normal, but knowing that and having it lovingly described in creepypasta detail is totally different.]

What are you saying? The place outside this building is-- [pause] Why would we be seeing different things?

My running hypothesis is that the snowy area the living see and can interact with is some sort of illusion, one that they don't bother keeping up for those of us on the spirit plane.

[latebluemer]

I guess, if the resort really is alive, then the body would be the most important part.

[She's thought this a lot recently but what kinds of things is she saying with her mouth these days.]

But why bother to have the illusion at all?

[resortghosts]

Mmm. I suspect it's to try and trick the guests into thinking it's the real deal. Camouflage, as it were.

It's not very useful, is it? I mean, we're all trapped in here anyway, since we can't get very far away before we're dragged back.

[There's a brief moment of thought, going back over everything.]

... Unless the resort was different enough before, that people were willing to stay here for a period of time like they told us? I wonder.

That's a theory. I wonder what the Resort organism feeds on. I'm not entirely convinced its our bodies or souls.

Ugh...

[How can this guy talk about this stuff while he's eating. Terrible. She's just going to face away from the food a little and pretend it ain't a thing.]

It's not our bodies, because that goes to the rats, right? And it's not our souls, unless it's saving you guys for later. What else? Memories?

[There's a nice thought.]

Hard to say. If it were eating memories, I don't think it would be giving them back.

We're sure these are our memories, right?

[At least, she's pretty sure, but it's a brainstorming session right now and she's basically throwing stuff at the wall.]

It would be very strange for us all to coincidentally be dreaming the same sorts of things. Though I suppose the Resort could be doing that.

No, I agree with that. There's obviously something special about what we're seeing. What I'm asking is: are we sure these are ours?

Then I suppose we'll have to wait and see if any more memories with more specifics trickle back in, hm?

[latebluemer]

I can't say I'm that great with just... waiting around while the world burns.

[She really, really isn't.]
