WEEK 2

With the nature of this 'game' out, the resort might not look so welcoming anymore. The staff are still ready to jump in and serve guests in any way they can, provided a request doesn't make them short-circuit, and the resort itself seems as warm and cheery as usual. But everyone knows the truth now. This resort is hiding some pretty big secrets, and it's only a matter of time before someone else turns up dead.

The weather is holding steady, at 'cold but still safe for outdoor activities'. The temperature seems to be dipping lower each day, though, and the previously-blue sky is starting to stay grey more often than not. Could that signal an approaching snowstorm? Who know. There is still music playing in the halls, and the cover songs continue with some low-key music for the week.

On Monday morning, another memory is returned to everyone. Another piece to the puzzle, one step closer to finding the truth of this place. But it might not be enough to put everything together yet, that might take some more time.

Most importantly, everyone needs to get to know each other. This 'game' is one of 'know your enemies', and your very survival depends on knowing when someone is acting odd.

[ She absolutely will, because she has questions. And also she needs to whack him again for doing more reckless bullshit. ]

Yeah, the whole thing about the rats is kind of. . . disgusting? Also, apparently if I'm remembering correctly, the rats can actually see the ghosts, too, based off something the Apprentice said.

[Doesn't know what she can do with that information yet, but it's important. Probably?]

... How can you even tell that the rats can see ghosts?

That's just something he said. Actually, let me check real quick what he typed...

[ She's not going to show the conversation because it gets real personal, but then she reads aloud: ]

"Things around here weren't as stable as they are now, so I ended up in my room or with the rats, mostly. They're pretty friendly." I asked him if the rats could see him and he responded with "They seem to be able to, yeah. They're one of the few ones who can, along with the Nue."

[She's not all that nosy a person, so she'll wait patiently for Inaba's quote and stuff.]

So he was talking about before we came here, but after he became a ghost? I don't think it's normal for rats to be able to see ghosts, huh?

[Not entirely a serious question. But like, who knows, there's always a lot of superstition about animals sensing the supernatural. She wouldn't know.]

... Do we know if Appy-kun and the others are the only ghosts here?

[How haunted is haunted, exactly.]

[ She just.

Waves her hands in the air rather dismissively because she doesn't know!! ]

Add that to the list of questions to ask, but I'd say probably? I mean, he did say that he felt alone, before we showed up, so.

Oh. Right, if he was all by himself like that, then there probably weren't any other actual ghosts around.

[And if they're the first ones going through... whatever this is, then that jives with the ghost creation thing -- man, this is making her head hurt. Too many genres clashing.]

I think this was easier back when there were just youkai to worry about.

. . .yeah.

[ Her answer is a little quiet, contemplative. ] I think it was easier when we didn't have to deal with this stupid "game" of theirs, really.

You can say that again. The blizzard, and the weird memories, and the guests were already enough to deal with.

[But all the same, it would have all been pretty okay without the death. She thinks she could have learned to deal with all of it eventually, day by day. This is the most new people she's really met in person (in a manner of speaking) since forever.]

Yeah. . . honestly, I'm just fucking tired of all the crap that keeps piling up on us. Honestly, I'm expecting the resort to blow up or something to make things worse.

Especially given.

[ POINTS AT ALL OF THE DUMB SHOUNENS IN THE ROOM ]

I don't even know if the resort blowing up is the worst case scenario at this point...

[She looks up above them. At the vents. The damn vents. But all the same, Inaba gets an exasperated nod with the other problem. They're basically surrounded by people who make Cinque look like a model citizen. Help them.]

I don't even want to hear what the actual potential worst case scenario could potentially be.

Trust me, you're already luckier than the rest of us who had to see stuff like that.
