ROUND 5 WATCHING POST

Everyone who was there in some shape or form for the meeting on March 1st gets a notice that soon, the location where they'll have to go to watch what happened in the Winchester Incident will be made available for them. Frisk requests a list of those going to see what happened, but doesn't seem to discourage high numbers.

And shortly before the 30th, those that signed up will finally get a name and place - The Hayes Mansion, only a little bit away by drive from the Winchester House. As they drive, the more magically inclined might be able to sense a powerful barrier emanating from the direction the Winchester House is located, though they'll be unable to see anything.

Arriving there, they'll find that any and all other guests have been removed from the Hotel resort, and there's a sign on the door saying that it is Closed for major renovation and fumigation, which would explain the outfits you were given to be 'seen' walking into the place with, as well as all the vans and 'containers' you were told to put your belongings into.

Once inside, a helpful staff member directs you to put the costumes into a specific bin for collection- unless, of course, you would like to keep wearing them - and then another directs you to the front desk, where a pleasant, yet authoritative man is waiting.

I'll play devil's advocate for a bit here; I am in no way endorsing or agreeing with their actions, but... fear is reasonable, given the effects that the miasma has on a person. Dazai being a weird exception due to how he is, most people don't want to die or get killed.

If they did reveal themselves now...

That is, if they truly are within the still living group...

The potential for things to wind up like how the note from last week — maybe even worse could unfold because of how the current group is. In fact, I would guess that they would fracture even more. Which could be a solid argument for continuing to hide their identity.

But I agree that the whole mission is a mess. Maybe we should be cold hearted and not save them if it means that we can at least get rid of the miasma at its source.

However, they are all 6350s, like us.

They don't deserve to have us abandon them like they mean nothing. Like their lives mean nothing. They aren't just "characters we see in a TV screen", after all. Doing so would be like treating them the same way the Foundation treated us.

And it might be selfish of me, but I do have at least a personal agenda to save them.

You're probably right about that. Despite its constant presence, I keep forgetting to account for the miasma's influence. Still... he shouldn't have let it come to this point. The moment those doors locked and the vessel made itself known, there should have been something.

... It's not that I believe their lives mean nothing. I would like nothing more than to rescue Miss Tohsaka, if only for Sakura's sake. But I do not believe that they can be saved without significant additional loss of life or corruption. I have faith in your skills, but I also believe this may not be something anyone can accomplish.

Also, given the circumstances... I believe that if it were a choice between eliminating the curse and saving those souls, even they would agree that the former is more important, if significantly more painful.

We're not there and experiencing it, so it's easy to dismiss it. Only those who have experience with it can truly understand.

At the very least, we can prepare a lot better and not be hasty. We know better what we're up against, although I have to admit I am slightly concerned of how negation will work against the miasma if Dazai becomes part of it...

But even if it might seem impossible, we've done impossible feats before. Not to mention that I think we might be a little more cohesive. Obviously, I do think that those who don't want to go or are more at risk shouldn't.

Priorities should go to eliminating the curse above all else, of course; if we can save the others... I don't want to count the option out just yet.

That's part of the problem isn't it? You'll be well prepared... for how the house was twenty years ago. Much can change in two decades.

.... regardless, the road ahead will not be an easy one.

We don't know the full effects of the barrier. It's possible that given that anyone related to the events of the Winchester House was erased that the barrier itself might have created a kind of "time stop" for the house itself for the last twenty years.

But even if we'll be well prepared for how the house was like twenty years ago, that doesn't mean we can't... overprepare? Add onto what we have in addition to what we know so far based on the tapes.

It might not be easy, but nothing in life ever is.

I don't want those lives to be for nothing. Even if I don't agree with everything that they've done, I don't want things to be for naught. Because their lives still hold meaning beyond these tapes. Because they have feelings, memories, experiences.

They might be stupid sometimes, but aren't we fucking all sometimes, too?

I'm probably going around in circles. But in any case, we'll all do our best.

I'm sure they will, too. For a definition of 'best', anyway.

... time stop. Hm.

I suppose it's useless to try and change your mind. Just... try and keep casualties to a minimum. There has been enough suffering because of that house.

It's just a theory, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm especially not well versed in this kind of thing but it's something to keep in mind, I guess, considering everything. I mean... everything has a purpose, after all.

And it is.

We'll try. I don't want to lose people, either.
