ROUND 5 WATCHING POST

Everyone who was there in some shape or form for the meeting on March 1st gets a notice that soon, the location where they'll have to go to watch what happened in the Winchester Incident will be made available for them. Frisk requests a list of those going to see what happened, but doesn't seem to discourage high numbers.

And shortly before the 30th, those that signed up will finally get a name and place - The Hayes Mansion, only a little bit away by drive from the Winchester House. As they drive, the more magically inclined might be able to sense a powerful barrier emanating from the direction the Winchester House is located, though they'll be unable to see anything.

Arriving there, they'll find that any and all other guests have been removed from the Hotel resort, and there's a sign on the door saying that it is Closed for major renovation and fumigation, which would explain the outfits you were given to be 'seen' walking into the place with, as well as all the vans and 'containers' you were told to put your belongings into.

Once inside, a helpful staff member directs you to put the costumes into a specific bin for collection- unless, of course, you would like to keep wearing them - and then another directs you to the front desk, where a pleasant, yet authoritative man is waiting.

[immediately googling that stuff up as we speak, she does have her laptop out]

What specifically about it, though?

By all accounts, it's just a work of fiction about a predatory house that lures humans in and takes something from them. But...

[he takes out his phone and reads a quote;]

"Those who know, we consume. To those who doubt, we appeal. From those who believe, we hide. Those who know, we are. Those who know, WE CONSUME. There is no escape."

Sounds a bit familiar, hm?

[he scrolls through more] This house also puppets former victims for its own purposes... It's not exactly the same, but perhaps this story is based on a real phenomena on another plane of existence.
oceanicbutterfly: ([k] Hm...)

Well, we certainly can't discount the idea of the house being alive, considering where we are right now.

["We" being a group that doesn't include Szayel right now, I guess.]

Who knows how many beings out there resemble what we call "domiciles"? If a predator wanted to prey on humans, it'd be a clever disguise.

I suppose they wouldn't even have to be related species.

Indeed. After all, tortoises and beetles are in completely different clades, and yet they both developed shield-like carapaces. There's no reason to believe that anomalous entities are not also capable of convergent evolution.

Yeah, I can definitely see the parallels...

I wouldn't be surprised if the story is based on something real that's happened. Or would at least have some similarities-- even if there might also be some differences. I mean, look at us?

[LITERALLY FICTIONAL BEINGS]
perfeccion: (✢ one look could kill)

Exactly. Our stories are "fiction" here. Perhaps the story of that house is as well.

... that said, most of the "creepypasta" is absolute drivel.

. . . Looking at it, yeah.

Well. Even some of our own "canons" are of... debatable quality. We must not let writing skill get in the way of research.
